About this mod Machine translation
The ESR overhaul introduces new mechanics and changes the overall balance to make the game more diverse and challenging. The skill system, inventory, alchemy, loot, mobs... almost every aspect of the game has been affected. This mode is for those looking for immersion or who want to revisit the game without playing it for the first time.
The goals of the ESR overhaul are:
- Have a smooth gameplay experience in terms of difficulty, so the game remains challenging and the player's power grows slowly relative to the world around them. This is achieved through changes to the scaling system of monsters and Geralt.
- Balance between different combat tactics and skill builds. This is achieved by introducing new combat mechanics and adjusting old combat mechanics. These changes allow you to choose the play style that best suits you and switch between different versions.
- New features that expand the gameplay and make it more complex and diverse. Players should now choose the most appropriate tactics/weapons/skills/alchemies to fight against specific opponent types.
This overhaul is a combination of the work of other talented people, combined with my own

List of other works combined and included in this overhaul
- "Ghost Mode" created by wghost81 - a wonderful overhaul in its own right, which offers many bug fixes and a host of new mechanics. Some of these mechanics are included in the ESR Overhaul (Note: Ghost Mode is regularly updated by its author, so features of newer versions of this mod are not included).
- "Combat Speed Mod" is acbatchelor's unique work that speeds up Geralt animations.
- "EK Combat Jump" by Euphoricknave is included here to save your nerve cells.
- "Friendly Economy" by stefan3372 is a very handy tool to make the game more friendly and immersive in terms of the economic system.
- katalysis' "Leveling Witcher and Relic gear" is a very important addition to the overall scaling system introduced in the ESR overhaul.
- "Eating Animation" by erxv. This mod not only provides some new animations, but becomes an important part of the gameplay - see the Alchemy section in the long description.
- rfuzzo's " Restoration Potion 'Fix '" fixes a nasty original bug (or bad mechanic?).
- “Witcher 3 REDUX” by stellar7project offers additional riposte variants for an expanded combat system. 9) “Bashing Mechanics” by Reaperrz - Now you can kick your annoying defensive opponents (see long description).
I acknowledge the authors listed for their work and permission to participate in this overhaul.
Install
- Highly recommend wghost81’s “Preparation” and “Friendly Meditation” mods! Please download it from the official page and follow the instructions to install it. These mods are masterpieces, and ESR Overhaul Alchemy is balanced alongside these mods.
- Download my mod archive and extract it somewhere.
Place the contents of the "ESROverhaulMain" folder into your Witcher 3 directory (the directory where the game is installed).
You will also find the add_to_input.settings.txt file in the archive. Add the contents of this file to...\Documents\The Witcher 3\input.settings (required for Combat Jump). Place the contents of the "ForModPreparations" folder into the Witcher 3 directory, replacing the files. This will enable the ESR Overhaul recommended presets in the game menu in preparation mode (only supports ru and en languages). 3) Use "Script Merge" to merge the mod's scripts. Set ESROverhaul's highest priority for .xml-s (as it should be by default). There should be no conflicts between ESROverhaul, Preparation and Friendly Meditation mods.
- The highly recommended ESRoverhaul preset is introduced into the in-game MODS menu. You'll find: Lore-Friendly Economy, Combat Speed mod, Friendly Meditation (if installed), Preparation (if installed), and Ghost Mode separate menus. Select "ESR Settings" whenever possible.
- "New Game Plus" is not supported!
- Currently, only ru and en languages …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
