***Update v131***
You may need to run script merge to combine with other mods, but changes to it are very minor and shouldn't interfere with any scripting aspects. Still, the gameplay looks solid, but there's still no guarantee as it's an unexpected feature.
***Updated 02/06 Version 1.21***
I've tried to improve the functionality of this mod, but every thread I pull takes me to the limits of CDPR game files. Unless someone else has other ideas, it will maintain its level of effectiveness. Still better than nothing.
***ENABLE SAVE FEATURE DURING BATTLE***
By default, CDPR disables saving during combat. Turns out this had to do with a very simple function at the start of the battle, so I just removed it. This mode allows you to quickly save a mob fight or fist fight at any time. This may be useful for bosses. This is a very simple script edit, I didn't make any changes regarding how the save or load functions work. I haven't tested it thoroughly other than using it repeatedly over a few hours while testing other things, so use it at your own risk. When loading, everyone is in the same spot, with the same stats, but if they're mid-attack or something, the animation will be canceled. It's fairly seamless, but results will vary slightly based on each load.
I don't know what use it is for other than testing. If there's an intense mob fight, sometimes you might want to save after killing an archer or something. Just an extra little buff.
NOTE: I'm disabling bug reporting because honestly I can't do anything else to support this file. This is a simple adjustment. There's a bit of inherent instability, depending on whether you want to mess with it or not.
Problems encountered:
- Occasionally, when you load up Geralt will not be in "battle mode" for a few seconds. Just jump to it to trigger or load again.
- Occasionally instability/crash can occur if too many commands are sent immediately after loading. That is, I have the "no combat" glitch triggering and the game crashes when jumping/kun/trying to rush out. Just make the subsequent loading process a little easier. Blocking is a safe bet.
three. If you try to save again too soon after your last save, you'll still get the "can't save now" summary just like everywhere else.
Installation instructions:
- Use script merging as this is what to do now, especially if you have any other mods that change r4player.ws (that is to say a lot of mods).
- Extract the folder "modsaveduringcombat" from the zip to [witcher 3 folder]\mods.
Uninstall instructions:
- Delete the folder "modsaveduringcombat" in [switcher 3 folder]\mods
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
