About this mod Machine translation
This mod allows to select the alcohol Geralt uses to replenish his alchemical ingredients and stop using Alcohest all the time.
describe
Typically, Geralt used the cheapest strong alcohol (original market value) to replenish alchemical ingredients while meditating. This is usually Alcoholest. While Alcohest isn't the hardest loot to find, it can be used to craft recipes, dries up quickly when meditated frequently, and Geralt collects excess amounts of other alcohols, such as dwarfing alcohol. Using this mod, you can cycle through all available alcohols and select the ones used to refill your alchemical ingredients.
Note: Initially, no alcohol was selected and trying to refill the alchemical ingredients produced the message: No alcohol available. Cycle through it at least once to select the alcohol you want to use.
feature
Cycle through available powerful alcohols and choose which one is used to replenish alchemical ingredients (default hotkey: F3)
Displays currently selected alcohol (default hotkey: F6)
Receive a notification when the refill process has exhausted the last alcohol of the selected type
Refilling alchemical ingredients will fail when the selected alcohol is depleted (without wasting random additional alcohol)
Selected alcohol is saved in the save game and will be retained across game restarts
Configuration and localization
In the archived mod folder, navigate to "modChooseRefillAlcohol\content\scripts\local" and open the file "AlcConfig.ws" in a text editor (preferably Notepad++). Scroll down to the recorded area and change the value as needed. Most settings are message texts displayed after various actions, which can also be used for localization purposes.
Install
Copy the folder "modChooseRefillAlcohol" into the mods folder of your Witcher 3 installation (<installDir>/mods - create the folder if it doesn't exist) and configure the hotkeys as described in the other text file. Then, start the script to merge and resolve any possible conflicts.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
