About this mod Machine translation
The in-game map editor allows you to easily and reversibly edit your map by copy-pasting any tile to another location on the map or using the tile selection menu. There is also support for adding new tile tables to the map.
Map Editor Extended
🎮 **Remastered version of the in-game map editor**, adds a new tile selection menu and adding tile table functions, and also fixes some problems with the old version of the module.
✨ Basic usage
This mod provides a simple non-destructive way to edit your map by selecting an existing tile on the map and copying it to another tile.
- **Start Editing**: Press the activation hotkey (default **F10**)
- **Copy Tile**: Use the copy key to select the tile (default **right button**), then move to the target tile and press the paste key (default **left button**)
- **Keep non-conflicting layers**: Hold down the layer modifier key while pasting (default **Left Shift**)
- **Undo Changes**: Highlight changes and press the Undo hotkey (default **Delete**)
- **Reset Map**: Hold down the Undo modifier key (default **Left Shift**) and press the Undo hotkey
- **Stop editing**: Press the activation hotkey again or **Esc**
🛠️ Advanced features
Custom tile changes
After selecting a tile to copy, you can use the scroll wheel or custom scroll buttons (default **Up** and **Down** arrow keys) to select a tile index from the tile table.
- Copied tiles can contain tiles from multiple layers, scrolling can only change the tile index of a single layer at a time
- Hold down the layer modifier key (default **Left Shift**) and use the scroll wheel to change the currently affected layer
- For maps with multiple tile tables, hold down the tile table modifier key (default **Left Alt**) while scrolling to change the tile table for the selected tile
- Tile index and tile table changes do not work with animated tiles
🎨 Tile Menu
The mod introduces a fully functional tile selector that reads all tile tables at the current location and allows you to select individual tiles for each layer.
- **Open Menu**: Click the green arrow label on the left side of the screen, or press the menu toggle button when the mod is active (default **T**)
- **Select Tile**: First set the current layer from the layer list, then select the tile from the tile table
- **Clear layer tiles**: Hover over the layer list and press the remove hotkey (default **Delete**)
- **Zoom and Drag**: Tile table images can be scaled and dragged using the mouse
- **Add Tile Sheet**: Press the green plus sign at the top of the menu and the mod will display a list of all unique tile sheets in the game
💾 Data Storage
The mod stores map edits in a JSON text file, and deleting the mod will completely clear all edits and will have no impact on the archive file.
**Three JSON file types:**
- **Per Archive**: Only affects the corresponding archive
- **Custom global file**: affects all archives
- **Main global file**: affects all saves
File priority: per archive file > custom folder file > main global file
📝 Notes
- Works with all farm types, but you may have issues editing farmhouses or maps modified by some mods
- Copy and paste everything except the path layer, including any tile properties
- The tile menu has limited ability to create animated tiles
- Map edits are instantly saved to a JSON file
- Changes may not be propagated to other players in multiplayer games
🔧 Configuration
This mod can be customized by editing the configuration file or using the general mod configuration menu.
⚙️ Technical requirements
- SMAPI required
- Implement the universal module configuration menu interface
- Code is on GitHub
Install & use Install: SMAPI mod (Stardew Valley standard)
- Install SMAPI first (Stardew Valley's mod loader): download it from smapi.io, run 'install on Windows.bat' and pick your game folder.
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and find the folder that contains manifest.json — that folder is the mod.
- Copy that whole folder into Stardew Valley/Mods/.
- Launch the game through SMAPI (run StardewModdingAPI.exe or set it as the launch option). The console before the title screen lists each mod's load result.
Cheat-style tools may not need SMAPI — unzip and run them as the readme describes. Back up your save before editing it; SMAPI lists failed mods in its console.
