About this mod Machine translation
This is an xEdit script that helps you rename items, weapons, magic, etc. I've provided a tutorial on how to use the script. You can even use this tutorial if this is your first renamed module!
Overview
When I find that I have a lot of items that are stuck like finger bones, I use the surprisingly excellent (and grossly underrated) IFS-Immersion Sort. I wanted to rename them, but changing hundreds of records was cumbersome behind the scenes, so I searched for xEdit scripts that could help me get the job done and found this: Delphi script for FO4Edit
I didn't really like how this seemed to me to be done for a general purpose rather than just renaming, so I decided to create my own batch renamer from scratch.
This script is the result.
Even if I don't like the script I'm talking about, I use the same name as the script's author so it helps people who are already familiar with it easily use my script.
feature
This script only changes the FULL part of the record (the name you see in the game) without giving you the opportunity to modify anything else. That was a deliberate decision.
Case-sensitive search and replace. This reduces unexpected results and encourages consistent naming conventions.
User friendly interface. I avoid calling jargon the plague because I’m human too.
Detailed output log. So you actually know what and how to change.
Test mode (enabled by default). Ever batch-processed and renamed hundreds of records only to realize you messed up? (Boy, I know I've done this many times) Not anymore. By default the script won't make the changes, just log them so you can see if you'll actually get what you want. Once you've decided on the changes you want to make, run the script again, but this time uncheck "Do not apply changes".
Hotkeys. The most commonly used option is hotkeys.
Tooltips. Friendly tooltips remind you of what buttons do.
PDF document. So you can see detailed information about how it works. It's all there, including a sample tutorial.
I made this tutorial for complete newbies and experienced people alike, so if you want to rename but don't know how to start, this is probably the right choice.
troubleshooting
I'll be happy to help, but before asking what some of the buttons do, please read the attached PDF document.
English is not my native language. If you spot some weird syntax, please let me know and we'll be happy to change it.
I named this version 1.0 BETA because I'm not 100% sure it works as expected. Only 99% of the time because I use it all the time to rename many things and the results are consistent. Savage Release will help make this script better.
I recommend that you always run it in test mode first to see if the script is doing what it's supposed to do. If not, feel free to ask me.
I'm open to suggestions and willing to implement them as long as they don't conflict with the principles of this script and can be accomplished with a reasonable amount of work and if you use it smartly my script hasn't done that. ...speaking of philosophy...
philosophy
When you complete this script, it has one purpose: to change the name you see in the game.
As you can see, most of the features help modders perform custom sorting mods.
I'm sure I wouldn't bother with signatures like KWDA so... this would just change the FULL signature.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
