About this mod Machine translation
Fixed a visual glitch that could cause water edges to become very blocky in foggy weather.
For a long time I've wondered what causes water to sometimes appear "edgy". Sunny weather never causes any problems, but once the weather turns stormy/foggy, the water is a mess. At some point I realized it had something to do with Skyrim's weather system. More precisely, fog determines whether the transition between water and land is smooth.
When I experimented with SSEEdit, I found that FNAM-Fog Distance was the deciding factor. Here are the changes I made to achieve a smooth transition:
- Day Far and Night Far are set to at least 50,000.
- The power remains consistent with the maximum value of 0.85.
I've also added those adjustments for other world space weather that aren't normally edited by weather mods - so, for example, no more harsh water in Blackreach (which always drove me crazy).
trade off
However, it's important to note that these adjustments do come with some major side effects, which may require some trade-offs:
- The haze in all heavy foggy weather has been basically reduced by half. For some, this may be a benefit, while for others, it may be a major drawback, so I've included some screenshots of the differences to help you decide if it's worth swapping out the mist for smooth water.
- Your vision will be clearer when underwater.
Require
In order to obtain the results shown, the module that reworks vanilla water must be installed. Sadly, there is no workaround and the vanilla water's clarity is so bad that the fix doesn't even work. There are some good options listed in the compatibility section, although this one has been extensively tested with Realistic Water 2 and works well.
If you want to test it yourself, just open the console and type "fw 10a7a7" next to the water (or any other foggy/stormy weather), once loading the mod and doing the water rework and once without loading it.应该有明显的区别。 If not, it's possible that the water rework you're using isn't fully compatible.
compatibility
Realistic Water Two: Highly Compatible.
Ilinalta - realistic water
Purified water: Most compatible.
Lightning in the Storm: Compatible.
All major sound modules such as Sounds of Skyrim and Audio Overhaul: Compatible.
Damp and Cold: Not compatible. However, here is a small standalone patch for Wet & Cold. It works with all weather combinations without any issues. **请注意,此补丁仅适用于湿冷。 If you are also using True Storms standalone, you will need to download the True Storms version of this plugin.
Dark Night: Incompatible. Darker Nights has extensive edits to the weather records, which will overwrite all changes made here without patches.
**Note: If you have True Storms loaded along with any other Weather Mods and/or Wet & Cold, this is not the version you should be using. As mentioned below, most True Storms + weather mod combinations have separate water's edge fix versions, so be sure to use them for optimal stability.
Other options
Amorphis88 offers another potential fix that takes an alternative approach to fixing the bug, called "Smooth Coasting". There are no conflicts between our mods, so if you want to try both, you can use them together.
There are also several standalone waterside versions for those who want to combine True Storms with a major weather overhaul. Keep in mind that this version of the fix is not required if you plan to use one of the following settings:
Vivid Weather + TrueStorms
NAT + TrueStorms
Dolomite + TrueStorms
Age of Mythology + TrueStorms
乡村天气+ TrueStorms
黑曜石天气+ TrueStorms
ELFX Weather + TrueStorms
Aequinoctium天气+ TrueStorms

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
