VRIK is a SKSE plugin that adds an analytical inverse kinematics solver for the player character's arms when using the VR Body mod.
Mod description
The main goal of the VRIK project is to make Skyrim VR a more immersive experience. Currently, this mod is focused on technical improvements to the VR Body mod to provide more physical presence in the game world. Later I wanted to add functionality to improve interaction (e.g. canceling weapons).
VRIK V0.1 Beta supports the following features:
An analytical inverse kinematics solver that correctly connects the player's arms to the body
Headset rotation is now disconnected from body rotation, allowing players to turn their heads.
VRIK is compatible with XPMSSE and other mods that require it. Groovtama generously allowed him to include modified versions of his works for compatibility.
Install
I've tested this using Mod Organizer 2, but other mod managers or manual installation should work as well.
Install SKSEVR.
Install VR Body mod. It is required and should be installed before VRIK. Please read and follow its installation instructions carefully, some of which are repeated below.
Set bAlwaysShowHands = 1 in SkyrimVR.ini. I recommend using Bilago's INI Tweaker tool to easily change INI settings. This file can usually be found in "%USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Skyrim VR" or you can create it if it doesn't already exist.
Calibrate the height using the in-game height slider (under "VR Settings") or by adjusting the fCharacterHeightOffset value in SkyrimPrefs.ini.
Calibrate the size at which the surrounding world appears by adjusting the fVRScale value in SkyrimVR.ini.
Calibrate arm and hand size in VR by changing fMagicHandScale. VRIK does respect this setting and will adjust the arm/hand size to match. The default size is very large. I recommend setting it to about 0.8.
If you are using the XPMSSE skeleton, you should install it.
Do not install the VR Body XPMSSE patch. It is not required when using VRIK.
If you are using XPMSSE and are not using left-handed mode in Skyrim VR, install VRIK with the XPMSSE skeleton in the next step. Otherwise, install VRIK with the vanilla skeleton next. (See known issues with left-handed mode below)
Double check that the VRIK is at the end of the installation order. VRIK should cover XPMSSE (if you are using it) and VR Body. If anything would override VRIK, IT would 100% be ineffective.
Known issues
VRIK is currently in the testing phase. This mod is known to have the following issues:
Skyrim will crash on launch if left-handed mode is enabled and an XPMSSE-based first-person skeleton is used. Must use vanilla skeleton.
There are issues with some player animations. For example, the spell casting animation causes the player's body to crouch and bend forward, which doesn't work in VR. This is an issue inherited from VR Body, made even more noticeable when working with IK. Correcting animation issues is a high priority.
When the headphones are moved, the player body twists and does not align perfectly with the headphones. The problem is a bit complex, but potential solutions are already underway.
The arm will flash when the hand is within the shoulder. This issue occurs when the IK solver cannot find a solution for a certain hand placement.
Since VRIK is a mod for VR Body, problems with VR Body will also affect VRIK. For example, footsteps are missing.
Beta testing feedback
I'm looking for feedback on any issues players may encounter while trying this mod. If you run into trouble, please consider leaving a post so I can investigate. I'm also interested in fixing the VR Body issue, but try disabling VRIK in your mod manager to find out which mod is causing the issue. if you can
Reproduce the problem, please try to explain how to recreate it.
Finally, if you can help or know how to solve the problem, please let me know!

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
