What's new in SSE?
----------------------------------
For the most part, this is a direct port of my mod, Unique Vampire Dens, from Oldrim to SSE. But it's not a simple copy/paste! I did change/add a few things to clean it up:
- The entrance to the Whiterun study didn't match the entry door, so I added a small entrance to make it look more appropriate.
- I moved the entrance to Windhelm den again so that the transition looks better.
- Solitude den's exterior entrance is now smaller and more themed, although its location remains the same.
- I added a completely new study in Solstheim, it is small but it will give you a place to rest or have snacks.
Other than that, it's exactly the same as the Oldrim version. Every den, including newer versions, has thralls, coffins and vampire-only pens to buy/sell (who make sure to stock up on blood potions). No mods are required. It shouldn't matter if you put it in your load order, since there are no scripting issues to worry about. Hopefully there won't be any kind of conflicts, but the City Overhaul mode may or may not have conflicts since I can't test them all (hopefully they won't.)
A patch is now available to provide compatibility with JK Skyrim! (Special thanks to Jkrojmal and Teabag86 for this!)
The original mod description from the Oldrim files is as follows:

What's this?
----------------------------------
While playing Dawnguard, I was disappointed with the lack of options when it came to sucking vampires. You rely almost entirely on sneaking around and biting someone while they're sleeping, or using vampire seduction. While it's not terribly difficult, it's not terribly fun either. I feel like vampires should have some "place" in the world, not just Castle Volkihar. A hideout where they hide some people and store some coffins to rest comfortably in a major city is nothing too spectacular, but a place to hide in, take a bite, and stash some gear.
Unfortunately, there are very few options available on Windows or Studio to solve this problem. So I finally decided to step up, get familiar with CK, and do something useful.

This MOD requires DAWNGUARD.
Update: As of version 2.0, this mod now includes NPCs that live in dens. Each lair now has a merchant who only deals with other vampires. Additionally, there may be one or two other NPCs in each lair, who will go out and hang out around the city (after all, they have to keep up appearances!). The merchant won't leave the study, so should be ready to trade with you at any time. If you don't want to use NPCs in your den, download the optional "No NPCs" version. (This no longer applies to SSE versions.)
This mod adds five unique "hidden" vampire lairs to Skyrim. Every major city (Solitude, Whiterun, Markarth, Windhelm, and Riften) has a vampire den somewhere in the city. Each study room varies in size, style and decoration from simple (Whiterun) to relatively extravagant (Windhelm or Solitude). In each case, the den at least provides secure storage, a coffin to sleep in, and a victim (or two) to feed on. Intricate dens can also provide some form of crafting equipment, but not all dens provide various forms of crafting stations.
The shape of the study roughly corresponds to the city in which it is located. I try to integrate them into the city as much as possible. For example, the Whiterun den is a simple crypt, forgotten and decaying. The Solitude den is a proper, two-storey "house" buried out of sight. In each case, the study is uniquely designed and seems to "fit in" with the world around it.
I tried to maintain compatibility with city mode as much as possible. Unfortunately, conflicts with some mods (such as Open Cities) are unavoidable. (If anyone wants a patch to fix any mod …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
