Drunk Bosmer merchant in Skyrim

NOTE: This is Tim's SE version, the mods for LE listed in the options may or may not have been converted yet. If they are, and you're confident they're done correctly, use them. However, updating the original module yourself is not difficult, especially now that you have multiple automated tools to help you

This is a simple pattern I made for myself and now I'm sharing it for anyone who might enjoy it too. This little guy is mainly for weapon merchants to add to their mods, but I made him versatile so he can sell or buy other items as well

For mods that add new items to the game. Sometimes they require you to craft them, and other times they may distribute them to the world as loot or enemies can use them. I limit these types of changes to the mod to personal preference to prevent clutter in my crafting inventory and reduce world editing. I also like that NPCs can't share unique items unless I give them to them. While I can grab whatever I want using additem I don't want to get a bunch of good stuff for free. What I wanted was a merchant that could sell me items for mods based on my level that I could replace with my sick gold, so Tim was born

The way I set it up is that if I ask him to sell all the items, he will randomly draw from the lvld list so that his choices will change every time you visit him. I like this and it makes him feel like a merchant rather than an add-on item that also requires your gold. So when you're on a raid or after a raid you get into the level and you see him, drink some beer, make a stew and then see if he has anything new you want

master file

This will put Tim in the world ready to sell. This is also a method that myself and others can use to create new optional files to expand his inventory. This is intentional, there aren't any optional mods loaded that won't take too much away from the base game. There are many other existing merchants. His purpose is mainly to sell new products for other mods through optional plug-ins

Optional files

These addons only allow Tim to sell items from the listed mods. You will need to access and DL the original mod to get the files as I won't be including them here. Unless otherwise stated, all changes will be made via the new plugin, which is intended to be used in place of, not alongside, any original

It should be noted that I may have changed the stats including cost, dmg, materials, etc. depending on what they can buy. The stats should suit most users, but if you feel they are too strong or weak for your game, then you can change them yourself in Xedit or CK to whatever you want

The main files should not be merged and left unchanged, but if you use more than 1 optional then they should be merged. When merging them, make sure that the merge adds each form to its chest, not just the last form in the merged list. If you combine all optional present and future, you only have 2 available slots, which is acceptable considering the number of items he might be able to sell you. The problems caused by merging the main files to save 1 plugin slot is not worth it, so don't do it. Remember that whenever you add or remove optionals, you need to rebuild the merge

For convenience, I will host a merge of all options so you don't have to, but if you don't want all of them you will need to create your own

SOSB will not start selling until you are 25 years old. This is intentional, as these weapons are intended for the mid-to-late game, as the game's silver weapons drop early. So for the early game just steal some silver hands and check back later as you'll really appreciate it later against the powerful undead

Do not rehost, include, directly modify or replace the master file. Any plugins you create and wish to share should be done in a new esp set to master using TimMerchant.esp

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
