About this mod Machine translation

An xEdit script to make the helmet invisible.

I thought I could share it with others. Use it, or don't. Should work fine on Oldrim as well. First MOD, please be polite.

What's this

This will make your and NPC's helmets, hoods, etc. invisible, by making them use the small circle slot, or another slot entirely. Basically no patch is required for the SkyJubs Stealth Helmet, as the resulting add-on is itself a patch and will preserve any changes your mod makes to the armor.

How to install

Download and install xEdit

Manually download the mod

Extract and move to xEdit/Edit Scripts folder (override mxpf and mteFunctions if asked... or don't)

How to use

Load all plugins using xEdit

Right click on the left side and select "Apply Script"

Select "Benna's Patch - Stealth Helmet"

If necessary, change the settings (see Options) and save, then click OK.

The patch will redo your last patch or ask you for a filename

Once the patch is complete, save the newly generated plugin

Activate and enjoy your invisible helmet!

Patch options

allowCircletsWithHeadwear: Exactly. Set to true to allow, to false to disallow. Equivalent to the aesthetics of SkyJubs.

invisibleSlot: If slot 59 is being used by another module, change it to something else. If allowCircletsWithHeadwear is false, the effective value is 42.

hoodedToNonHooded: Allows you to wear hooded clothing and armor. Only affects hoods belonging to armor!

helmetsToIgnore: List of helmets that you do not want to make invisible. Put a comma separated list of editor IDs (script looks for substrings), e.g. "Forsworn,Iron,Hat". This will ignore any armor that has Presworn, Nightwalk, or Hat in its editor ID.

processARMAToo: advanced settings. Right or wrong. When this feature is enabled, ARMA records are also processed, and if you have matching nif files, you can view them in the game as well. Personally, I wanted to change the helmet to a circlet, so I downloaded some armored circles etc, moved and renamed it to the vanilla helmet, then ran this script with allowCircletsWithHeadwear turned off.

Answers to potential questions

Q: Loading order?

A: Finally, along with any other plugins generated via some kind of patch.

Q: Can I change my settings by changing my password?

Answer: If it's stupid but effective, it's not stupid

Q: Can feature X be added?

Answer: Maybe. Just ask.

What is this

This will make both your and NPCs' helmets, hoods etc invisible by making them use the circlet slot, or alternatively another slot altogether. Basically SkyJubs Invisible Helmets without the need for any patches, as the plugin generated is in itself a patch and carries over any changes your mods make to armor.

Options for the patcher

allowCircletsWithHeadwear: Exactly what it says. Set to true to allow, false to not allow. Equivalent to SkyJubs's Aesthetic.

invisibleSlot: Change this to something else if another mod is using slot 59. Effectively 42 if allowCircletsWithHeadwear is false.

hoodedToNonHooded: Allows you to wear anything with hooded clothes and armor. Only affects hoods that are part of an armor!

helmetsToIgnore: List of helmets you don't want to make invisible. Put a comma-separated list of their Editor IDs (the script looks for substrings), for example 'Forsworn, Iron, Hat'. This will ignore all armors that have …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
