Skyrim billboard for use with LODGen

describe

This is a reupload of the mod I released for Oldrim, but I changed some new textures and created various brightness billboard packages.

What is a billboard: A billboard is a texture that when used with SSELODGEN (or DynDoLOD) can create personal treelod.dds (or enhanced vanilla treelod.dds). This provides great flexibility when installing tree models, as you can generate your own custom trees. The LOD is a 2D mesh with a billboard texture pasted on it. Obviously this helps improve performance without having to render the 3D model for the entire world. Additionally, the size of the 2D mesh generated in the LOD is determined by the text file. If interested, the gamerpoet video found below has a lot of information.

Changed textures for pine forests and heavy snowfall in pine forests, mostly covering Tamriel. I also created a Lush version of the aforementioned tree for mods, adding a tree model with dense foliage. If you don't like these new textures, the Oldrim Indistinguable mod works fine on Skyrim SE so you can revert to that texture.

The reason for the different brightness of billboards is 4 times. First, adapt to personal taste. Secondly, visual compatibility with mods that change lighting and weather. Third, suitable for users with leaf texture alternatives (light or dark). Finally, for ENB users, I haven't used it in Skyrim SE so don't know what it's like for them using ENB.

TBH I haven't really tested these new textures yet, so they may need to be tweaked, but since I created them I decided to upload them.

This video shows what can be achieved by mixing and matching tree models and corresponding billboards.

Thank you WazaLang for the wonderful video

The reason for not changing the rest of the billboard is because it would take a lot of my time. There are also other great tree models that come with their own billboards. I personally like vanilla pine and snowy pine and replace the remaining trees with the following mods.

I recommend the following:

Aspen Wood: Realistic aspen wood by AceeQ with stunning tree models, textures and billboards

Snowy Pines: Skyrim by Vurt Presents Mesh by Flora Overhaul and its billboard equivalent

Or use cedar in enhanced vanilla tree by somerandomguy83

Dead Tree: A mesh in the Skyrim Plant Maintenance Network and its billboard equivalent

Larger trees: Change the size of all vanilla trees by fading the signal to only make larger trees. You can use the above mods as long as they override this mod (except for actual aspen trees due to compatibility patches). Note: The screenshots are taken with SBT and these billboards installed. However, to be compatible with SBT, you need to download his billboard and just copy the .txt file so you get the appropriately sized LOD.

BARK TEXTURES AND LUSH MODELS: somerandomguy83's HQ Bark features a variety of bark textures. Additionally, it provides the option of a lush tree grid (for which I created a lush billboard).

I'm sure there are many other mods out there that have lush foliage

All available download options include all the required billboards for Skyrim and Dragonborn.

Vanilla option: standard foliage density used for trees

Lush Options: Mod for making pine trees and snowy pine light trees lush.

Brightness options:

For Vanilla Leaf Billboard - Medium/Bright, for non-retrofit/weather lighting

"Billboard" option for "Vivid Weather" Use this option if using Vivid Weather or possibly other weather lighting modules.

Darker colors may lighten ENB users/dark leaf textures

For dense foliage billboards - medium/bright, suitable for no changes in weather/lighting

中等,适用于恶劣天气

Darker colors may lighten ENB users/dark leaf textures

Note that weather can change the appearance of LODs, so it can be difficult to get consistent results. If the Lod exactly matches the color of the trees (fw 81a) on a sunny day, it will inevitably appear darker when …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
