Scaled two-handed attack speed
In the base game, two-handed weapons are just too slow, which makes their damage output much worse than mid-to-late game two-handed weapons, especially when it comes to the damage bonuses from tempering and enchantments. They are also easier to interrupt, and even their ranged attacks are of no use against retreating targets as they are already out of range before the swing connects. This is on top of a design flaw in two-handed weapons that does not allow the use of spells, staves, shields, or torches in the off-hand.
If only the damn thing weren't so slow. Even the game's NPCs admit it: In one interaction, Ria complained to Vilkas that using two-handed weapons "feels too slow," only to be told that she would eventually get used to it and become faster. The conversation gave me the inspiration for this mod.
Scalable Two-Handed Attack Speed does a very simple job: Increases the attack speed of two-handed weapons by 5% for each level of the Barbarian perk. That’s all. There is also a Vokrii version that adds the two-handed mastery perk. So you'll start with vanilla attack speed and gain 25% more attack speed with maxed out Barbarian or Ambidextrous Mastery. Each increase is barely noticeable, giving it a gradual feel. Finally, your attacks are still much slower than with a one-handed weapon, but much less so than in the base game.
Both versions are available as Attack Speed Framework compatible variants, which you may want to use if you want to combine any two attack speed modification sources (such as Elemental Fury) with a scalable two-handed attack speed.
Originally, I wanted to tie attack speed to the two-handed skill itself rather than to a damage-related perk, but the best solution I could come up with was to create a pretty heavy script load, so in order to keep this mode as simple and unintrusive as possible, I opted to do it with abilities gained through perks, and that's what you get. Feel sorry.

Installation and compatibility notes:
Simply drag and drop the relevant .esp file into your data folder and activate it using the management tool of your choice. There are four versions of this file, you only use one of them:
If you are using normal privileges instead of ASF, choose the normal version.
If you are using Vokrii instead of ASF, please select the Vokrii version.
If you are using vanilla perks and ASF, choose the ASF-compatible vanilla version.
If you are using Vokrii and ASF, choose the ASF-compatible version of Vokrii.
There are currently no versions developed or tested for other revitalization overhauls, but the vanilla version will work with any overhaul that does not change barbarian revitalization.
IMPORTANT: All four versions are independent and are not designed to be compatibility patches for the original versions. You only need to use one of these files at a time. If you are using one of the Vokrii versions, make sure you load it after Vokrii or it will not work properly. I'm not sure if load order matters for ASF, but it wouldn't hurt to load the scalable two-handed attack speed last.
Scaled two-handed attack speed is compatible with all mods that do not change the affected perks. It is not compatible with Ordinator. I'm not aware of other perk reforms, but if they change the entry-level perks of two-hand trading in any way, then they are probably incompatible. If you'd like to see an implementation implemented for any perk that currently doesn't have an attack speed buff in its two-handed ring tree, please let me know and I'll see if I can figure it out.
If you find any bugs or incompatibilities, please notify me.
I've realized that a similar mod exists for Oldrim, but only after I reached the "scaled two-handed attack speed". This is not a port adjustment, …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
