RUSTIC ARMOR & WEAPONS SE - DAEDRIC is a high-resolution version of Daedric armor and Skyrim weapons.

This is one of the missing armor and weaponry in a famous armor and weapon reconstruction mode. Trying to recreate all the armor and weapons in the game is a daunting task, so it's no surprise that no one has managed to do an overhaul like I did with the costumes in the RUSTIC CLOTHING mod.

While I don't currently have any ambitions to do another overhaul, I think I can at least address the armor and weaponry not covered by CaBal120. I've covered one of these sets with my RUSTIC FORSWORN mod. However, that was just recombined with the armor, so I plan on doing the accompanying weapons next.

I've always considered the Daedric design to be one of the best in the game, but the textures themselves are sadly lacking. Once again, we find Bethesda's hit-and-miss approach, with multiple artists working on the same set and mismatched art styles. The work is sloppy and crude and doesn't do justice to Adam Adamowicz's brilliant concept art. The size of the textures is also inconsistent. Body armor and gloves are both 2K, while boots and helmets are both 1K. Hands and feet are the smallest body parts, so they should both have smaller textures. Headgear models bear the greatest stretch and always benefit from larger grain sizes.

Ideally, the main armor texture should be twice the resolution of any smaller body parts. There's no point in having the gloves have the same resolution as the main armor. Anyway, I corrected this nonsense with my rhetoric.

Bethesda was even so lazy that they borrowed the scabbard from the Ebony set instead of making a matching scabbard. This poses a problem because the ebony has gold detailing, and that doesn't work with the Daedric suit. I decided to stick with a monochromatic color scheme so the scabbard would work better with the Daedric colors. Daedric high-resolution weapon textures were originally 1K, but the Ebony scabbard was never included in the high-res pack, so it's half the size.

All Daedric armor and weapon items have a total of three textures: diffuse, normal map, and environment mask. They have matching resolutions, but I've also included an alternative of reducing normals and environment masks to provide better performance while retaining as much of the look as possible.

I could go into more detail about my design choices, but I'll be kind enough to just refer you to the screenshots to learn more about the look. One note about the pictures, I'm using an open helmet model so you won't see the closed helmet look in the screenshots, but don't worry, the whole texture is for those who prefer a closed look.

4K and 2K resolutions are available, so choose the appropriate size for your setup. Normal maps are saved in BC7 to avoid compression artifacts. I hope people enjoy my latest Skusim special edition RUSTIC.

cheers,

Gamwich

RUSTIC ARMOR & WEAPONS SE - DAEDRIC is a hi-res retexture of the Daedric armor and weapons for Skyrim.

This is one of the armor & weapon sets that was missing from a certain well-known armor and weapon retexture mod. It's a massive undertaking to attempt to retexture all the armor and weapons in the game, so it's not surprising that no one has managed to do a complete overhaul as I did with the clothing in my RUSTIC CLOTHING mod.

While I don't currently have any ambitions to attempt another complete overhaul, I thought that I could at least address the armor and weapon sets that weren't covered by CaBal120. I already covered one such set with my RUSTIC FORSWORNmod. That was just and armor retexture, however, so I plan to do the accompanying weapons next.

I always thought that the Daedric design was one of the best in the game, but sadly the textures themselves were lacking. Once again …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
