About this mod Machine translation
The xEdit script divides conflicting plugins by record type, allowing you to create multiple Smashed Patches, overcoming the 255 plugin master limit.
Concept/theory:
Mator Smash is my preferred conflict resolution patch generator; I prefer its output to Wrye Bash, and I'm looking forward to zSmash when it comes out! Until then, misuse of ESL-tagged ESPs pushes my plugin count past 400, and I need to find a way to resolve conflicts and bypass the 255 major limit. (Mator Smash currently does not support more than 255 plugins.)
My workaround: Split my entire mod stack by record type and create multiple smashes. While my entire 400+ list doesn't crumble at the same time, I don't have more than 255 addons that have NPC conflicts, so I can only resolve one crumble for the NPC conflict. It's the same for Armor, it's the same for consumable alchemy ingredients, and it's the same for every other record type in my stack.
Having said that, there are over 100 record types and rather than creating a smash patch for each individual record type, we can still combine some record types together and still not break the major limitations.
I've created these xEdit scripts to calculate which record types fit neatly together without breaking the master limit, and to help reduce some of the tedium of creating and cleaning up multiple smash patches.
These scripts help me easily split my stack of 400+ plugin modules into two shards.

Concept/Theory:
Mator Smash is my preferred conflict-resolution patch generator; I prefer its output over Wrye Bash, and I’m looking forward to zSmash when it comes out! Until then though, having abused ESL-flagged ESPs, bringing my plugin count over 400, I needed to find a way to resolve conflicts and get around the 255-master limit. (Mator Smash doesn’t currently work with over 255 plugins loaded.)
My workaround: Split my entire mod stack by record type and create multiple smashes. Though my whole 400+ list won’t smash all at once, I don’t have more than 255 plugins that have NPC conflicts, so I can make one smash just for NPC conflict resolution. Same for Armor, same for consumable alchemy ingredients, and every other record type in my stack.
That being said, there are over 100 record types, and instead of creating one smash patch for each individual record type, we can still group some record types together, and still not bust that master limit.
I’ve created these xEdit scripts to calculate which record types fit smartly together without busting the master limit, and to help reduce some of tediousness in creating and cleaning multiple smash patches.
These scripts help me easily split my 400+ plugin mod stack into two smashes.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
