[Foreword
I love the nature of Issarlk's "RP Chopping And Mining" mod, it's a simple concept and I think it's a game-changing effect. However, to modify the amount of resources obtained, its script must be recompiled after finding the necessary variables. There's no promise that what you put in will even feel right in the game, which can mean a rather lengthy compile-test cycle.
Enter this mod: an MCM that cuts out the middle man! Change your settings in-game and test as many as you can until it feels just right!
Warning/Disclaimer
I cannot support this mid-play installation. In theory, I see no reason why it shouldn't work, but if you've modded Skyrim for any length of time, it's obvious that things tend to go downhill for the strangest of reasons.
It's also worth noting that if you change the amount of resources you get, the price of those resources will most likely be cancelled. Starting with V2, you can change these prices as needed.
I can't guarantee support either. I tend to do simulations in very short timeframes. Fortunately, the permissions of the original extend to this mod as well, so if anyone wants to make any bugfixes themselves, that's totally fine! Give me a download and I'll include it here if I'm around.
Finally, MCM may fail to display. I don't know why this is happening, but if it happens, type "setstage SKI_ConfigManagerInstance 1" in the console and it should appear after a while.
What's this
I'm quoting Issarlk here.
In vanilla Skyrim, mining is nearly instantaneous for players, while NPCs endlessly strike at veins. Players can clear a mine in a matter of minutes, which is good for the game but not great for immersion.
This mod allows players to dig and cut more realistic wood by requiring them to spend time working. For a vanilla install it only has advantages and is intended to use realism mods to add the need for eating, sleeping, etc.
change:
- Ore veins are unlimited.
- To mine the ore, click on it and press the wait button to advance the time (or watch it on the screen for an hour and it will work too).
- Depending on the metal, your character will be rewarded with a variable amount of ore:
- Iron: 4 times per hour
- Orichalcum: 2 times an hour
- Corundum: 1.8 per hour
- Quicksilver: 1.6 times per hour
- Silver: 1.6 per hour
- Moonstone: 1.5 per hour
- Malachite: 1.5 per hour
- Gold: 1.25 per hour
- Ebony: 1.0 per hour
- Soulgem: 1.0 per hour
- When you have enough, just back off or press e to stop mining.
- Cutting wood in the same way produces 10 pieces of firewood per hour.
esp files adjust purchase prices from NPCs with dialogue options to purchase ore and wood. They're paying more for it than your local Smith is paying for it, which is totally stupid.
New price:
- Firewood: 1
- Iron: 2
- Quicksilver&silver:5
- Orichalcum&Corundum:8
- Malachite and Moonstone: 10
- Gold: 15
- Ebony: 20
Along with the amount of each ore, it's balanced so a miner or wood chipper working 10 hours can get around 100-200 gold.
All my mod does is allow custom resource amounts and forwards the price changes from the original mod.
Also, the original mod mentions soul gems. To be honest, I don't know much about Skyrim, so I can't figure out what exactly it means. The code I can find is also commented out, so it may be a non-functional aspect. If this is incorrect, please let me know!
postscript
Due to the nature of the formulas used in the script, when you change the numbers, the amount of resources you get will vary. I'm not the best at math, so I can't tell you why this is the case. For example, if you change the amount of firewood to 50 and chop for two hours, expect 102 - 103 logs. I feel very strongly that the formulas work very well, so I have no intention of changing the way they work, you just have to accept and expect some differences.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
