About this mod Machine translation

Think hero gear should be more valuable? Want a weapon's damage to increase with reputation? This mod is for you.

Classic version

Requires SKSE64. SKSE64 is the Alpha version. We should assume that not only is it possible for this distro to break your save, but it's very likely. I'm preparing this mod for the curious who are willing to take the risk.

For general use, I recommend not using SKSE64 at all.

If the MCM is still not working properly, you can still adjust the progress and cap. Enter "Set _ProgressionCap to x" to set the maximum additional damage the weapon can do. A value of 0 means no progress limit.

Type "Set _ProgressionSpeed to x.y" to set the device's improvement speed. "Set _ProgressionSpeed to 1.0" is the standard configuration, "Set _ProgressionSpeed to 0.5" is half the standard configuration, and "Set _ProgressionSpeed to 2.0" is twice the standard configuration.

Sometimes a hero's reputation grows so quickly that their weapons and armor become legendary.

This mod is indeed an approximation of it.

[The function of this Mod]

When you become a legend, your device will have its own reputation. The iron sword is worthless, but that iron sword was pierced into the hearts of countless dragons by the savior of the earth? Worth it now.

In short, this mod improves weapons and armor (and clothes!) through achievements rather than forging. With every enemy killed, the equipment you use becomes increasingly more controlled. The greater the achievement, the more legendary the achiever becomes, so defeating enemies much stronger than you causes the attunement process to grow exponentially.

In practice, this means that the more you use your weapons and armor, the stronger and more valuable they become. This makes a favorite early game weapon a signature weapon proportional to your character. Perhaps your character might deliberately build a reputation for a weapon in order to sell it for a huge profit. Or maybe you like the look of the weapon, but its damage can't keep up. No more problems with this mod!

You might say, "Yes, a valuable commodity becomes meaningful, but how do you explain it becoming more powerful?"

To this I respond with the literal meaning of the old Nordic proverb. The heat of battle is the fire that forges the strongest blades. There is also a placebo effect.

[How to use]

A toggle function has been added to the player if you want to enable or disable this effect at any time. Enabled by default.

To build a device's reputation, all you have to do is use it. Kill a few powerful enemies, or kill hundreds of vulnerable enemies. You will get there.

To achieve a device's new reputation, you must remove the device from your inventory. I know that sucks, but it's the only way I can do it in the end. If you replace a piece of equipment with another before it drops, and then kill another enemy, the old equipment's reputation will be lost.

Starting from version 1.1, the MCM menu has been added. This menu allows you to configure the speed at which equipment improves, and limit the strength of weapons and armor.

Thanks to Sinitar Gaming for the showcase! This mod is shown at the beginning.

[Installation + Compatibility]

SKSE is required. MCM menu also requires SkyUI. Installation is standard.

This mod should be compatible with everything, but I'll update here as needed.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
