Purpose

Every time you ask a merchant to trade with you or a follower to open their inventory in Vanilla Skyrim, you have to wait for them to complete the conversation before they display the requested menu. This mod attempts to fix that problem by removing the lag entirely and letting said NPC complete the dialog when the menu is opened.

Vanilla Skyrim runs the script responsible for opening these menus after the dialog, while this mod switches it to run before the dialog. All this can be done without any script editing. But since the menu can cause some minor issues when it opens too quickly, a negligible delay can be added to the script to ensure it works properly.

Instructions for use

For convenience, an automatic FoMod installer is provided, which contains the Main plugin, compatibility fixes, and script sources for users wishing to implement this fix in their own mods. This script can safely install and uninstall mid-game as the script modification is trivial.

If you don't want to use LOOT, I recommend that you prioritize this over all other modules on the list, as there are only a few edits in this module and may not cause any conflicts with other modules. These plugins are provided in ESPFE format to reduce load order slot consumption.

Notice:

The next version of the module will exit WIP status, covering all possible barter menus, as well as open inventory dialogues from vanilla Skyrim, DLC, relationship dialogue overhauls, and other dialogue editing mods. Currently, there are only 40 dialogues yet to be covered in the Dragonborn DLC. Afterwards, I plan to expand this mod further and cover all service dialogues, including asking followers to do something, wait or follow, NPCs teaching something, etc. But it depends on how popular the mod is and how much free time I have.
