Merchants will now treat you worse based on how much you steal from their city. Face the consequences of your misconduct.
introduce
Dear rogue adventurer, the people of Skyrim are wise to your ways. They may not have witnessed your crimes, but it's not hard to figure out when the most suspicious people in Tamriel have reached a certain level. You've escaped the attack of hired thugs and continued without anything happening. But what do you do when untrustworthy merchants start skimming coins from your transactions? Will you continue to act recklessly?
The basic premise of this mode is that the more items you steal, the more shame you gain and the less willing merchants are to give up your gold to you. Gameplay-wise, stealing is very profitable, both in vanilla-like games and in massive games where it tends to crash the economy. This mod aims to provide balance in the system so that players can benefit from stealing, but also be punished.
infamous mechanism
Track your total number of thefts by criminals. All items you steal have an impact on the total and therefore your barter rate with that faction. A small percentage of your highest Infamy value is used as your "global" or lowest Notorious value with other factions that you may not have stolen from.
Default parameters:
SellMultMin = 0.30
BuyMultMax = 1.00
NonFactionInfamyMult = 0.33
GoldMin = 500
GoldDiv = 7200
GoldCurve = 1.50
calculate:
x_faction:=gold stolen from faction
x_global: = (most gold stolen from any faction) * NonFactionInfamyMult
x:= max(max(x_faction,x_global) - GoldMin,0)
Sell price multiplier = SellMultMin + ((1 - SellMultMin)/(1 + (x/GoldDiv)^GoldCurve))
Buy price multiplier = BuyMultMax + ((1 - BuyMultMax)/(1 + (x/GoldDiv)^GoldCurve))
Barter adjustment (optional)
The model includes some baseline barter adjustments, which lower the selling price and reduce the impact of verbal skills in transactions. If you need more control over your barter setup, install Trade and Barter.
General settings:
- fBarterMin:2.0 - > 3.5
- fBarterMax:3.3 - > 5.0
- Bid price multiplier = 0.60
Relationship modifier:
- RelationshipRank = 1 or 2 (Friends): Buy and sell price increased by 5%
- RelationshipRank = 3 (Allies): 10% better buy and sell price
- RelationshipRank = 4 (Lover): 30% increase in buying and selling price
Install
New games are recommended when installing this mod. Pickpocket theft totals are not provided by the game engine, so the mod tracks it separately. This means that installing an intermediate game will not retroactively apply to your pickpocket steals.

Introduction
Dear thieving adventurers, the people of Skyrim are wise to your ways. They may not witness your crimes, but it's not hard to figure out when the most suspicious person in Tamriel is up to something. You've shrugged off attacks from hired thugs, continuing on like nothing happened. But what will you do when distrustful merchants start skimming coin off of your transactions? Will you continue to act as brazenly?
The basic premise of this mod is that the more you steal items, the more infamy you gain, and the less eager merchants will be to give up their gold to you. Gameplay-wise, stealing is extremely profitable, either in vanilla-like or heavily modded games, and it tends to make the economy fall apart. This mod is meant to provide a counterbalance in the system so that the player can benefit from stealing but also be penalized for it.
Infamy mechanics
Your theft totals are tracked per crime faction. All items that you steal contribute to the total, which in turn affects your barter rates with that faction. A fraction of your highest infamy value is used as your "global", or minimum, infamy value with other factions which you may not have stolen from as much.
Default parameters:
SellMultMin = 0.30 …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
