Classification is simple and soaking friendly.

Sorting models are great, but sometimes they don't really help you find important items. If they do, they use a variety of immersion stands and symbols. What can you do? !

IFS: Immersion Friendly Sorting!

After years of using every sorting model under the sun, and many attempts at making my own incomplete sorting model for internal use, I've finally reached a point where I feel like I can upload a complete sorting model that doesn't make me feel like I'm looking at programming code. As an educator (and a crazy OCD collector/organizer), I'd also like to utilize grammatical markers to explain, rather than separate them. (This may not make sense at first; just trust me, I know what I'm doing.)

Instead of separating symbols, use extra space. Since spaces sort before letters and symbols (instead of the eye), you'll find things go faster since they're already grouped! Items that are typically used frequently are given more space (gold and locked selections have four spaces) to place them at the top of the loot list.

Items are grouped intuitively to make things easier to find. No more looking for important stuff through loot. List them in one word; keep the space organized. Similar item types have the same number of leading spaces.

The only symbols used are colon (:), n-dash (-), tilde (~) and asterisk (*). Colons are used for "type" statements (like analogies in grammar); n-dashes are used for item effects; tildes mark quest-generated items (sorted last); and, asterisks are used for special items (sorted first).

Note: Special items (*) retain their original names unless they need to be changed for better sorting.

arms

Weapons are now sorted by type rather than substance (e.g. Greatsword: Ebony). If I have great words, I want to see all great words, not scroll through a bunch of slow daedric warhammers! Sorting by skill type (using spaces) is based on the idea that players will start at range, switch to one-handed, and finish with heavy hitting two-handed.

Ammo is listed first since you're more likely to change ammo during combat.

Next list ranged weapons (bows, crossbows, staves).

Next up are the one handed weapons as I think they will be changed or made for two handed weapons instead of two handed weapons.

Two-handed weapons are the last resort. They just don't switch often.

armor

Armor does not have skill separation like weapons. You just want to know if it's light, heavy, cloth or shield, and if it's a set. Now it is!

Shields are the first since you can switch them during combat.

Cloth, light and heavy armor share the same sorting level (spaces). If you heavily invest in armor skills, you can only use one type at a time. The armor is then sorted by material type, keeping matching groups together. This really makes sense.

Jewels are last as these are less likely to be switched mid-battle (as I don't think they warrant a higher order). The circles are listed here (I use mods to let you wear them under the hood because it makes sense - Circlets or Masks With All Robes and Hoods or WACCF).

potions and poisons

Potions and poisons are easy to organize. Since I spend a lot of time making money from alchemy, I want to make them easier to sell. This may seem selfish when making a sorting pattern, but it also makes sense.

Custom potions and poisons are listed first. Custom potions are more powerful than standard potions, making them more likely to be used in combat.

Restoring Health/Magicka/Stamina and Cure Disease/Poison are listed before all other standard potions. They are more commonly used. Thieves Guild Potions and White Botanicals are also listed here.

Standard potions and poisons are listed at the end. Now order level potions by effect and level (Potion: Regenerate Health III). Non-standard potions (Ice Wraith Bane/Essence) have an asterisk to indicate their non-standard status.

Spells and Powers

Spells are listed by skill and level, then named (Des II: Firebolt). Only a …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
