Replacement scripts for vanilla mannequins to ensure they stay put and never deviate. Safe for ongoing games.

3000/5000 vanilla model repair script

This is a redesigned vanilla script that replaces the default vanilla script that handles model behavior.

How it works now:

Bethesada relies on the OnLoad() event too often, and it's too unreliable. This function only fires when the unit is loaded into memory, and not again until the unit is unloaded from memory. The game keeps the last 2 cells you visited as well as the current one to speed up loading when moving between them, but the feature never triggers until you leave the area and return after a while. When a unit loads, 3 things usually happen. Load 3D objects, run scripts and process AI packages. The game seems to like to do these randomly, and if your graphics card is powerful, the 3D will load nicely before any scripts or AI processes, but if you have something to say, we'd say more potatoes, the AI and scripts can trigger a full load before the 3D. This can cause issues with mannequins as they will have their AI and position managed before loading which can cause bugs, and can also cause mannequins to drift as the game will try to reset them before they have a chance to move to first.

What I did:

I simply changed the OnLoad() function to utilize OnCellAttach() instead, which will fire every time an object is loaded into the cell. I also triggered a loop delay so the mannequin 3D is fully loaded and the AI is processed before running the placement reset function. This causes the script to wait until the human model is loaded and their AI has considered wandering to the next closest Navmesh position, and then slap it back to its editor position, rather than relying on the linked Xmarker title. The slotted equipment features haven't been touched at all and will function the same way they always have, so there are still issues with spontaneity not equipping or item duplication that some people have reported over the years with vanilla mannequins.

What you can do:

Add this to your game and test the models as much as possible. Give me any feedback you have about performance, any lag or CTD issues (shouldn't be there), or any unexpected behavior. I hope this solves the age-old Holy Grail problem of Skyrim.

Installation/uninstallation:

It can be installed as a loose file in your Skyrim installation (assuming you haven't unpacked the BSA yet) or added as its own entry to your Mod Manager. The script doesn't have any changed properties, just rewritten code, so it should be possible to add it to an ongoing game. To uninstall, just delete the file. If you have extracted the script from the Skyrim BSA and installed it manually into your Skyrim installation, you may have overwritten the loose script and will need to re-extract it from the BSA. If you don't know what I'm talking about, don't worry, you probably haven't done anything yet. ——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

Vanilla Mannequin Fix Script

This is a re-worked vanilla script which replaces the default vanilla script that handles mannequin behavior.

How it works Now:

Bethesada relies on the OnLoad() event far too often and it is far too unreliable. The function fires only when a cell loads into memory and DOES NOT fire again until that cell is unloaded from memory. The game retains the last 2 cells you visited plus your current one in memory for faster loading as you move between them, but this function will never fire again until you have left the area and come back in some time later. When cells load, there are typically 3 things that happen; 3D objects are loaded, scripts run and AI packages process. The game seems to like to do these in random order and if your video card is beefy the 3D will load well before any scripts or AI processes, but if you have shall we say more of a potato, AI and scripts can fire before 3D is fully loaded. This can cause issues with the Mannequins because the …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
