Step-by-step tutorial on how to make a RaceMenu exported character become an NPC without using Oldrim or Nifmerge.
I decided to learn new knowledge and do an NPC overhaul. On the Internet I can only find tutorials for making or using Oldrim and Nifmerge, but not for SSE.
So here is a tutorial that teaches you step by step how to convert a RaceMenu character into an NPC (with independent textures, etc.).
You will need:
CreationKit
Neve Scope
If you use ECE, you can use CharGen Export SE from ousnius.
Credit to ousnius for being a patient teacher♥
Credit goes to Anduniel, who wrote a tutorial for ECE that first sparked my interest in learning.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
