hide and seek

It's a very simple mode that forces players to close their eyes while playing hide-and-seek with the kids around Skyrim. This includes children after you adopt the Hearthfire DLC as well as the general population of children throughout the game.

The goal of Hide and Seek is to make playing children's games in Skyrim more immersive. Now, when you start a game of hide and seek with a kid on the street, your screen will fade to black for 10 seconds while the kid in question runs around and hides. It's a very simple mode, but it's actually effective and can make things more interesting - just as much fun as hide and seek in Skyrim.

I came up with the mod while testing my game and thought it might be a good mini side project while my other mods were in development. All mods add a line of code to a basic script of the game and make the same changes to the script related to dialogue in Hearthfire so you can get the same effect when playing with your own children.

Unless another mod makes changes to the same script, there shouldn't be any issues.

Update 1.1

The new update now removes compass markers from all currently hidden players. This means you actually need to find the child in time without the help of the game, or better yet, learn the hiding spots. There are also some tweaks to the dialogue when starting a conversation about playing the game.

esp has now been re-saved in the 64-bit Creation Kit, although this mod should also be backwards compatible with the original version of the game.

Hide-and-Seek aims to make playing the game with children in Skyrim much more immersive. Now when you initiate a game of hide-and-seek with a child in the streets, your screen will fade black for 10 seconds while the kid(s) in question run and hide. It's a very simple mod but actually effective and can make things feel a little more fun - well as fun as hide-and-seek can be in Skyrim.

I thought of the mod while testing out my playthrough and thought it might be a nice miniature side project while my other mods are in development. All the mod does is add a line of code to one of the base scripts for games and also the same change to the script relating to the dialogue in Hearthfire so you can have the same effect when playing with your own adopted kids.

Unless another mod makes changes to the same scripts, there shouldn't be any problems.

This means you actually need to find the children in time without the aid of the game, or better yet learn the hiding spots. The esp has now been re saved in the 64bit Creation Kit, although this mod should also be backward compatible with the original edition of the game too.
