About this mod Machine translation
This mod adds Skarr Fur Armor with Holder emblem, Windhelm, Winter Holder, and Dauster's Guard.
Optional versions include chainmail-covered Skell armor for the Imperial Guard at Davenstad, Winterhold and Windhelm. Guard armor can now be trained on any armor bench. I'll be adding the temper to the original archive soon.
The major version has been updated. Armor can now be upgraded.

Poor guards in the snow…
I'm tired of watching those guardsmen, the Windhelm Guards and the Daust Guards, who stand by in the winter, shivering with cold as they patrol. This mod equips them with Skaal fur armor, gloves and boots, as well as their full face protection helmet and shield.
The armor is slightly different in that I removed the satchel, changed the normal map to look just a little beat up and used, and changed the skaar buckles/emblems to represent each hold. (Thanks to the alcohol swab for the wonderful holding capital symbol vector resource.
*Screenshot shows my guard wearing fur gloves and boots, in a large personal model outfit. This mod equips skaal boots and gloves to match the armor. I don't have the Windhelm Guard in my screenshots because the mod I'm using has different armor. Their emblem is the Marching Bear.
Thanks to JD for providing additional Windhelm and Dawnstar screenshots and helping me test the mod. You rock!
Since transparencies are now added, the grid is included. 3 guard equipment has been changed and the existing guard armor, gloves and boots have been removed. Players with other mods that affect wards may need a Slam patch to tidy up the tier lists. There's no such thing as a script. All normal skaal stuff and warm keywords are still in the vanilla game. They just look different and are worth a bit more.
*Known issues: Badges/buckles are slightly distorted on female guards. This is because of the shape of the vanilla mesh itself. There's nothing I can do because I don't know how to build a 3D model.

The poor guards in the snowy regions...
I got tired of watching the guards in Winterhold, Windhelm, and Dawnstar, freezing while on their rounds. This mod outfits them with Skaal fur armor, gloves, and boots, along with their full face guard helmets and guard shields.
The armor differs slightly, as I removed the satchel, changed the normal map to appear just a little more ragged and used, and changed the Skaal buckle/badge to represent each hold. (Thank you to AlcoholSwabs, for the fantastic Hold Capital Symbol Vectors resource. )
*The screenshots show my guards wearing the fur gauntlet and boot, as outfitted in a large personal mod. This mod equips Skaal boots and gloves, to match the armor. Windhelm guards are not shown in my screenshots, because my in-use mod has them in different armor. Their badge is the Eastmarch bear.
Thanks to JD for providing the extra Windhelm and Dawnstar screenshots, and for helping me test the mod. You rock!
The meshes are included because there are now transparencies added. The 3 guard outfits have been changed, and existing guard cuirasses, gloves, and boots have been removed. Players with other mods affecting guards will probably need a bashed patch, to sort out the leveled lists. There are no scripts or anything like that. All the normal Skaal material and warmth keywords remain as in the vanilla game. They only look different, and are worth a bit more gold.
- KNOWN ISSUE: On female guards, the badge/buckle is slightly distorted. This is because of the shape of the vanilla mesh itself. There is nothing I can do to help th …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
