===========
You get infected, go to sleep, wake up, and find out you're a vampire. Congratulations, no one cares! Literally, there aren't even any existing vampires in the game!
Well, that's where the fun begins. This mod now adds the player to the same faction as other vampires in the game (with or without any vampire altering mods, including Dawnguard). You are now one of the undead and can walk around with them, but is that all? No, not all, you can ask other vampires to hunt with you! While they're hunting, you can give them better gear and they may/may not use it (some vampires can be so picky).
But what do you do with your newfound vampire community? Of course it’s a city! Wander into a town and the guards will see all of your group (including the player) as a group of vampires attacking the town (bringing a whole new meaning to vampire attacks).
Version 1.1: You will hear a (vampire) "Hiss" or (player safe) "Ting" sound that tells you that you are a "vampire" (not player safe) or a "player safe" vampire. This is done to allow the task to continue normally and without causing any problems (see version history for details). This new add-on only works *if* you're not near an undead/vampire and you're not in a vampire group.
Version 1.2: Vampire/player Hiss/Ting now monitors the "creature status" of those using mods that provide wolf transformations. Vampires traveling to the Dawnguard to begin "Awakening" need to be without their follower vampires, so they will temporarily become hostile to regular vampires (only *if* "Awakening" has not yet begun), so the Dawnguard will not become hostile to the player. After leaving the Dawnguard area and returning to normal Skyrim, players will become friendly to other vampires again. A new dialogue "You're a vampire, just like a human!" was added so the town's vampires can also join the vampire faction, so you can include them in your town raids, and a family change mode was added where you can move your vampire followers to the Dawnguard Castle (but use the new dialogue before letting your followers leave you, all while inside, otherwise they'll attack them when you do). A side effect of the new dialogue and Dawnguard is that they will constantly attack the Moth Priest (which is fun, but may make him explore harder). For even worse immersion, with vampires you use "You're a vampire, just like a human being!" in, If you set GSR_FriendlyVampiresComplete to 1, they will only be in the vampire faction (and behave 100% like wild vampires).
Version 1.3: This is a bugfix release, not a major release (most will never notice), if you fill out the group you can't add any more. Leaving vampires are not removed as teammates.
Version 1.31: This is a "tweak" and bug fix release, again no big deal. Fixed testing of player homes and *should* allow vampires (outside the group) to access items in their player homes. Notifications should happen faster when adding or removing vampires from a group.
Version 1.32: Super small "tweak" so that your vampire group doesn't expire until the end of the battle (if you're the last one in the group, you're still part of the group until the end of the battle).
Version 1.33: Added support for the "Abandoned House" quest in Markarth and added a new global to temporarily disable the influence of friendly vampires: Set GSR_FriendlyVampiresNormal to 1 (treats vampires as normal hatred)
Version 1.34: Added wait/continue support (note that some vampire minions can despawn in unloaded cells while waiting). Your vampire group is determined by the following …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
