About this mod Machine translation
This very small mode will allow Falada to greet you politely instead of yelling at you right away.
question:
Our first encounter with Falada of the College of Winterhold was rather tricky. However, hidden behind this rude protest is a more civil, if not boring conversation, where she greets you politely and allows you to engage in a brief discussion with her. You can only find it the first time you let her yell at you, walk away, and then come back to talk to her again. It doesn't have to be set up this way.
Solution:
This mod simply moves the trigger, forcing Falada's burst to stick out slightly behind her, so you can approach her and start a conversation, and enjoy a more pleasant first impression with one of the Academy's most senior members. If you leave her without starting a conversation or completing an entrance exam, she'll just yell at you now, which is a more reasonable moment for her.
Please note:
This mod is experimental. I'm pretty sure it doesn't do anything crazy or break anything, but I'd like to hear from someone who is testing it to make sure.
This mod only works on brand new games.
All fixes from USSEP have been forwarded.
This mod is an ESL. If you are using Mod Manager, you may need to install it manually, or upgrade to Vortex or MO2.
Tested for better college applications. it works!

A little Q, a lot of A:
Q: Can this mod be used with XYZ?
Answer: Yes! Since this mod is an ESL, it will load before 99.99% of your load order, so any and all changes it makes to the Tamriel world space will be overwritten by these mods, as they should be. This mod only edits the trigger volume MG05WinterholdTriggerRef, so it will only conflict with other mods that edit that volume. If they do, it's probably for a bigger reason than this mod, so you probably shouldn't use this mod and let it do its job. :)
Q: Why doesn't this mod work with the ongoing game?
A: Once the player enters the Tamriel world space - including the game's introduction in Helgen, all data on the triggers that control Faralda's greeting of power will be stored in your save game. Once stored in a save, this data cannot be modified. This also applies to Alternate Start, which will still include this data in your save game even if you never load into the Tamriel worldspace.
Q: Is this mod safe to uninstall?
A: Unfortunately, the restriction on ongoing save installations cuts both ways: If you start a new game with this mod installed, uninstalling it will do nothing. The trigger's data is permanently stored in your save.
Q: What is the expected load order?
A: Load this mod after all ESM or ESM-tagged ESPs, and before any ESP files. Mod managers that support ESL files should sort them automatically.
Q: Are there any known issues?
A: If you do overtake Falada and initiate her intense power greeting, it may be better to move in front of her. While the entrance trials still work fine while standing behind her, they're not meant to be done from that position, so some things can be a little clunky.
Q: Why isn't this part of Obscure's College of Winterhold?
Answer: There are several reasons. This mod is experimental and I hope experienced modders will test it and provide feedback, I don't want to require them to download a big mod to do this. OCW does not make any changes to any of the vanilla missions, this mod breaks that rule. It needs a new game and I don't want OCW to ask for it. Finally, it can be easily used with any other Winterhold mod, so as a standalone mod anyone can enjoy it.
Q: Continuing, this trigger looks like edit MG05, not MG01. Would not being able to edit it also interfere with this task?
A: The trigger will also update MG05, but it will only complete the mission to Winterhold, so moving it a few meters doesn't change much.
Q: Why is this mod ESL and not ESP-FE or ESP?
A: This …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
