Please read the instructions. I try to do that as much as I can.

Are you tired of blowing your way through enemies like butter? Want to scale difficulty smoothly from low to advanced levels? Is an ancient Norse tomb in a distant mountain just a random bandit camp? If your answer is yes, then you are in the right place. This mod will certainly make the game neither too difficult nor too easy, while also increasing the immersion by one hundred percent.

So you may be wondering what is this pattern? Simply put, Level Skyrim Regions, or LSR for short, is an Encounter Zone mod designed specifically for balancing the game. The land of Skyrim is divided into areas of several specific levels. Each hold is balanced based on its location, status and enemies within. And all positions in a given hold are balanced accordingly according to their nature, the type of enemies encountered and the distance from the capital. Finally, the location of the main mission receives special attention and therefore cannot be cleared in the early stages.

Now let’s take a deeper look at the factors responsible for setting location levels. There are five factors, as follows:

Keep Level: Keep Level has a minimum and maximum value. The levels of all positions in the holding are limited by these values. Holdings are stratified according to their history and geography. For example, Winterhold is located in the northeast corner of Skyrim, in a very cold and mountainous region. Most importantly, it's part of 'Old Holds'. So it is assigned to the highest difficulty level.

Location Types: There are various location types in Skyrim, namely caves, fortresses, ruins, huts, etc. All these types are divided into four difficulty levels in a realistic way. For example, a hut guarded by some wolves is much easier to navigate than a camp full of enemies.

Enemy Types: All enemy types are grouped in a similar manner so that two locations of the same type containing different enemy types will have different difficulties. For example, a dungeon full of Draugrs is harder than a home with just a few spiders.

Location: The distance of the location from the capital held is important here. Each capital has its own line of control, so locations that are closer together are less difficult than locations that are farther away.

Main Quest Line: The locations one must visit in the main quest line may or may not follow the above rules, making it neither too difficult to progress through the story in the early levels nor easy to beat the game in higher levels. For example, Bleak Falls Barrow is a super early main quest location where players need to go to basically start the storyline. So even though it's a Nordic dungeon and filled with different types of enemies, its levels are scaled down to match lower player levels. But it has a higher minimum and maximum level range, so it can be challenging if you decide to clear it at a higher level.

The following table describes the difficulty levels held:

Dawnguard and Dragonborn DLC locations have also been affected. The recommended levels to start the storyline are 30 and 40 for Dawnguard and Dragonborn respectively.

Spoiler: Show

Finally, the following game settings have also changed: FleveledActorMultEasy, FleveledActorMultMedium, FleveledActorMultHard and FleveledActorVeryHard. These determine the level list pool of enemies to be spawned from. The higher the value, the harder the enemy. They changed from 0.33, 0.67, 1.00 and 1.25 to 0.5, 0.8, 1.1 and 1.4 respectively. This means that if the player enters a location and it's level is set to 10, then easy enemies will spawn at level 5 (10 * 0.5) or lower; Medium will spawn at level 8 or lower; Hard will spawn at level 11 or lower, and f …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
