About this mod Machine translation

Fast traveling from the map now costs gold, based on the distance traveled.

It does what it says on the tin. Fast travel is still enabled, but now you spend an amount based on the distance (in global world units) between your current location and the destination map marker. If you don't have enough gold, you can still fast travel, but you can choose to accumulate fast travel debt so that subsequent fast travels are more expensive.

Require

SkyUI: Configure fast travel costs via MCM.

How does it work?

When you open the map, your current world location is noted. When the map is closed, if the location changes, the distance between the original location and the new location is calculated. This distance is multiplied by a fraction of gold to determine the cost of fast travel, and the gold is deducted when you reach your destination.

What if I don't have enough gold?

If gold debt is enabled, all your gold will be removed and the remaining gold will become debt. The debt will be included in the cost of subsequent fast travel until you have enough funds to clear it.

If gold debt is not enabled, all your gold will be removed, but no debt will be created.

Is it configurable?

yes. The gold multiplier can be adjusted from 0.0 to 1.0 with a granularity of 5 decimal places, and gold debt can be turned on or off.

What about Solstheim, Bruma or other new worlds?

World positioning and distance calculations are universal and should work just fine for all new worlds.

How is the cabin?

Shipping costs have not changed.

Are there compatibility issues?

Generally speaking, no. You may experience unpredictable distance calculations where mods allow fast travel from internal locations.

——————————————————————————————————————————————————

Just as it says on the tin. Fast travel is still enabled, but it now costs you an amount of gold according to the distance between your current location and the target map marker (in global world units). If you do not have enough gold, you can still fast travel, but you can optionally accrue fast travel debt such that subsequent fast travels cost more.

Requirements

SkyUI: Fast Travel Costs is configured through an MCM.

How does it work?

When you open the map, your current world position is noted. When you close the map, if that position changes, the distance between the original position and the new position is calculated. That distance is multiplied by a fraction of gold to determine the cost of the fast travel and gold will be deducted when you arrive at your destination.

What if I don't have enough gold?

If gold debt is enabled, all of your gold will be removed and the remainder will become debt. The debt will be included in the cost of subsequent fast travels until you have enough money to clear it.

If gold debt is not enabled, all of your gold will be removed, but no debt is accrued.

Is it configurable?

Yes. The gold multiplier can be adjusted from 0.0 to 1.0 with granularity to 5 decimal places, and gold debt can be toggled on or off.

What about Solstheim, Bruma, or other new worlds?

The world positioning and distance calculation is universal, all new worlds should work just fine.

What about carriages?

No changes were made to carriage costs.

Are there compatibility issues?

In general, no. You may experience unpredictable distance calculations with mods that allow fast travel from interior locations though.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
