introduce

Elegy aims to create a more rewarding, balanced, and immersive Skyrim experience while changing as little as possible and keeping as much of the vanilla gameplay and visuals as possible. This is accomplished by significantly increasing the rarity of loot around Skyrim, revamping the crafting experience so that it requires less spamming of materials, and adjusting the speed of skill levels, among various other changes. Underutilized, exploitable, or inconsistent gameplay elements like tempering recipes, alchemy, and food have been completely finished and rebalanced - basically, making them what they should have been from the start. A range of other difficulty and balance adjustments are also included, all of which are fully listed in the description below. These include: reduced carrying weight, reduced mission rewards and faster-paced combat. Additionally, Creation Club's survival mode is fully supported, and Elegy is also available for Xbox One owners on Bethesda.net.

Basically, what I'm saying is that Elegy is JSawyer Ultimate Edition, Skyrim style.

Skills and standards

The purpose of skill reform is to make your skills more natural. The main feature is an increase from exponential linear experience to linear experience growth requirements, meaning later levels are easier to obtain, but early levels are slower. All crafting skills have had their experience completely redesigned, and should now not require crafting an excessive amount of potions, weapons, and magic items to reach a valid level (this grid works well with the increased rarity of loot, making crafting more of an art). Some special effects have also been changed to make them more viable, and some oversights and exploits in vanilla experience gains have been fixed.

The experience required to increase a skill now increases linearly rather than exponentially, but the overall experience required to go from 15 to 100 is the same. This means that the level adjustment is slower at low levels but faster at high levels.

Smith's experience was completely and utterly changed. Item value has a greater impact on experience gained, tempering provides meaningful experience, and crafting new items for the first time multiplies experience. Therefore, it's best to craft a range of items for the best experience. Additionally, if you activate Forge while sneaking, you can view a list of all the items you've previously completed so you can find the ones left to fill in the gaps.

The Smith perk has been slightly reworked so that heavy armor has nothing to do with light side perks and vice versa. Some perks have been renamed: Steel Smithing -> Apprentice Smithing; Dwarf Smithing -> Ancient Smithing; Orc Smithing -> Reinforced Armor; Glass Smithing -> Amorphous Smithing.

The alchemical experience is radically transformed so that it is no longer a grind and cannot be exploited. Each potion brewed provides a set amount of experience, rather than scaling by value, so crafting high-value but useless potions is no longer a viable way to quickly increase your skills.

Fascinating experience rebalancing.

Light and heavy armor skill experience has been changed so it no longer relies on damage. This means that no matter what difficulties you encounter, they will increase at the same rate.

Lock perks (Novice, Apprentice, Adept, Expert and Master) now affect all locks. Each perk increases the size of the dessert by 20%, up to 100%, meaning all perks have the same effect as vanilla.

In addition to their vanilla effects, Magic Mastery perks (novice, apprent …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
