Dynamic display settings
This is a work-in-progress project and therefore no guarantees or guarantees are provided as to safety or functionality. Make sure you read this description before deciding to use it, and don't run this description on a super critical state without a backup, or expect the mod to uninstall immediately without issue.
Do you find it difficult to set up your visual settings so that they work properly in all conditions, dark, light, day or night? Or maybe you made a Reshade preset that was perfect for making cities look amazing, only to find that the settings make dark and atmospheric dungeons look great, but dark and atmospheric. If so, this mod is (hopefully) for you!
Dynamic Display Settings (DDS) attempts to make this easier by making the display settings automatically adapt to your preferences, taking into account game location and time of day!
This functionality is divided into two main modules:
indoor module
Internally detected by the appended keyword, which is then used to generate a unique identifier. Changing the visual settings of a location will also affect all other interiors that share the same keyword.
external module
All external areas are considered the same location and share the same settings. However, that doesn't mean they're always stuck with the same stuff. By detecting the time of day - dawn, day, dusk and night, the mod will apply the relevant custom appearance.
If you are not happy with these time periods, or use the module that changes the date period, you can also specify their start time and start time.
Currently, the following variables can be managed automatically
contrast
brightness
saturation
Depth of field inside and outside (static) Remember to set the default DoF to minimum in the game display menu, otherwise you'll end up with a double effect!
bloom radius
bloom scale
bloom threshold
red tint
green tint
blue tint
See this link for more information on engine starting. As noted with the default bloom threshold of 0.6, this value is quite low, so if you want less glow and shine, you should increase this value. Depending on the preference value as high as 0.85-0.95 it's completely doable here, thus greatly reducing the impact only on really bright light sources. I think.
Some examples of what you can do
- Increase dawn saturation for colorful sunrises
*Reduce the brightness of dusk to make it atmospheric
*Add blue tones to make days look softer
- Increase the brightness in your home so you can actually see the dungeon without it getting too bright
- Keep depth of field active when outdoors and disabled when inside to avoid blurring your beautiful home decorations
See the screenshots for examples of the results, although in some of the screenshots the default game blooms and DoF is active, none of them have any ENB or Reshade activity.
Keep in mind that mods can be tweaked in a wide range, so they are more representative of my personal taste than the limitations of what DDS can achieve :-)
However, the most important feature (and the main reason I do this) is that DDS makes it possible to reshade static presets that have problems handling visually changing scenes to work (and look) better by acting as a middleman of sorts.
compatibility
Should be used with anything other than ENB. If you use it, you don't really need it as it does most of the work on its own.
How to use
*Use DDS power to bring up the menu
- Use menu options to configure the appearance of your current location

Maybe, maybe there is no list
Add glow, depth of field, blur and any other missing effects
Known issues and limitations
*Due to engine limitations in detecting cell changes, applying a preset may fail in rare cases, but it is always possible to apply a preset manually by entering a …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
