A collection of "Diversity-Character Overhaul" patches that others can use.
This is a collection of patches for Diversity - Overhaul of Characters I Created so I could swap out WICO from Legacy of DarkLadyLexy's Dragonborn Mod Guide. I thought others might enjoy it too, especially if they're not comfortable using SSEEdit.
Available patches (ESL, standard and vanilla hair only):
Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition patch v.4.2.3 / Cutting Room Floor v3.1.7
Immersive Winterhold Academy v6.1
OBIS - Organized Bandits for Skyrim v2.5
Transport and Ferry Travel Overhaul v2.0
PC Creation Hair Slide Repair
As always, patched plugins follow modified plugins (right pane in MO2). The main Divine plugin should be near the bottom with the patch. Loot should sort them appropriately.
USSEP/CRF patch plugin should follow any other plugin first. If that doesn't happen, adjust your custom LOOT rules.
PC Creation Hair Slider Fix:
Variety packs many hair assets from KS Hairdos, as well as some from ApachiiSkyHair. The copied plugin record will keep intact the "Playable" tag, which instructs the game to display these hairs as character creation options and in the Racemenu. If you installed KS Hairdos or Apachii yourself, this will result in duplicate hairstyle options cluttering the selection slider. This fix removes the "Playable" tag from the "Diversity" hair options to eliminate duplicates.
Useful if you have OCD about this sort of thing. It does not work on the vanilla hair version of Diversity.
If you use hairstyles packaged into Variety to create or modify characters, please do not use this patch in a running game. Suddenly marking it as unplayable can have serious consequences.
File loading order:
Importantly, diversity comes last in the file loading order. This will prevent the blackface error from occurring if one of the other mods has an asset file that the episode should overwrite. Your file loading order (left pane of MO2) should look like this:
USSEP / CRF / OBIS / ICoW / CFTO
Diversification
diversity patch
Only the CFTO patch contains assets, so it must follow the diversity in the file order list to correctly overwrite the facegen files. Other patches don't include asset files, but putting their installation folders after diversity helps keep things organized.
Highly recommended reading:
If you really want to learn how best to avoid blackface mistakes, check out this tutorial on creating an NPC Merge mod. It'll show you how to set up an NPC overhaul in MO2 in a layered manner, then smash it into a single addon while retaining your character selection. It's worth the time to learn, and can help you save on plugins if you use a lot of NPC overhauls like me!
Merged NPC overhaul made easy
Here is a list of character overhaul mods that I have successfully used using the NPC Overhaul Merger Guide:
WICO (349 of the 829 characters I combined)
Diversity - Character Overhaul (480 WICO characters covered, and 411 more WICO characters covered)
Pandorable NPC - Dawnguard (vampires only)
Northbourne NPCs in Riverwood (all except Sven and Ognar)
Forrest of Northbourne NPC
Nobenberg NPC in Whiterun (about half)
Eeekie's enhanced NPC (my favorite)
Erik the Slayer - now older and wiser (because it's Erik)
Guyima's interesting NPC

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
