About this mod Machine translation

This mod is a framework for dealing with failed narratives. When you are defeated, one of many random events may occur, depending on the context. You may be abandoned, sent to a shrine, have items stolen, etc. Followers are supported and play an active role in the game dynamic.

Main goals:

In one sentence: tells the adventures of the player character, including defeats and defeats, and adds the active role of flying NPCs. This increases the difficulty to a more realistic level and, therefore, provides the basis for a truly immersive gaming experience. Again, the goal is not to make players invulnerable in all situations, it includes stories of failure as well as victory stories within your personal story, adding to the RP element of Skyrim.

Death substitution is a framework.

People often ask: why is death a frame? Many mods listen to Skyrim's vanilla events and do something under certain conditions. However, we never know who else is listening. If we just want to add a magic effect to the player when an event is received, that's not a big deal, but what if multiple mods listen to the same event, and one mod wants to send the player west and another wants to send the player east when the event is received? In this case, what we get is a completely unpredictable mess, which is the source of many incompatibilities. The StoryManager in Skyrim doesn't have this problem, as any mod can register new branches and nodes (such as Quest), and the manager decides when to start what. However, there is no branch like failure event. The Death Alternative framework is a failure event-like story manager: other mods can register new branches and nodes that will be launched when conditions are met. The best thing is that the plugin can register new nodes just like registering new MCM menus in SkyUI, that is, it does not rely on SkyUI.

Mod description:

Player character death and defeat means reloading and continuing in vanilla Skyrim. Many mods increase the difficulty and realism of the game's combat system, but few provide a substitute for the end goal. This mode is my attempt to provide a fun and semi-realistic way to handle failure without the need for reloading. It provides enough motivation to consider engaging in combat and deepens the survival mode (food requirements, cold survival, etc.). It takes a while to recover from the wound.

How is this done? The first thing is that it adds an outflow state to the character. Once your HP reaches zero, you enter bleeding mode. In this state, you're on the ground and unable to take any direct action, but you're not defeated yet, as long as your pool of bloody HP isn't depleted. If you take very little damage while in this state, you will automatically revert to a weakened state (when you are weakened, your HP will be restored slightly less, but you will also have less HP the next time you are sent to the ground). If your HP reaches zero due to blood loss, you will fall unconscious. Many things can happen while unconscious, but usually one of them involves being thrown out of wherever you happen to be, as in being left for dead. Depending on the type of enemy that defeats you, some of your gear and valuables may be stolen. These events are configurable and extensible, with death override framework features. Modulators can easily add their own tasks and events. When you regain consciousness, you are in an extremely weakened state in which life regeneration is ineffective and treatment is largely ineffective. If you're defeated in that state, you'll die this time (and have to reload like in vanilla). when you wake up, Some common encounters may occur. A random adventurer could offer some help, or a random bandit could take advantage of the situation and steal some of your gear (if it's not already stolen). Any stolen gear can be recovered, either from the thief or by finding a pawn shop (where groceries vendors act as fences) and using gold to buy your gear back for a reasonable price.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
