About this mod Machine translation

The new Smithing perk tree differentiates between light armor, heavy armor and weapons.

I wasn't happy with the Smithing perk tree and didn't want to change the way the game played, so I made my own mod. This mod splits the Smithing tree into 3 different branches:

heavy armor

light armor

Weapons

Each branch is arranged in order of strongest within each category. It is worth noting that the order of the weapons department is completely different from that of the armor department. This is because weapons of a specific material have different comparable power levels to their corresponding armor.

There are also two new categories: Basic and Leather. The basic version includes all the recipes you would normally have immediate access to. You are no longer inherently good at blacksmithing! You must first place a point on the blacksmith tree to be able to craft iron gears. Leather is a lightweight alternative to steel and requires you to do basic forging beforehand. The "Advanced Armor" perk has now been split into "Scale Armor Smithing" and "Orc Armor Scaling" as well, since plate armor and Ork armor are essentially equivalent.

This mod also greatly changes the way tempering is handled. Previously, you could forge any weapon or armor you wanted as long as you had the necessary Smithing level. Each tempering recipe is now locked behind the corresponding perk in the tree. To compensate for this, all perks now grant 2.5x backfire to weapons of that category, instead of the base 2x. To be consistent with the rest of the mod, any tempering recipes that I couldn't classify into existing categories now fall into new categories covered by the "Exotic Blacksmith" perk. Generally speaking, this includes weapons or armor that aren't normally found in Skyrim, or that look too different from other gear. I'm not the most familiar with Elder Scrolls lore, so if I've classified any items incorrectly, please let me know and I can fix it.

warn

This is the first mod I've made, which means there are likely to be a ton of bugs. I believe you can't level to flawless currently because the leveling is hidden in a completely different place than the perks and recipes section in the Creation Kit. Not tested yet. I have a feeling this may be retained in the final version of the mod, thus requiring Smithing potions and enchantments to reach higher temper levels. However, if you find any bugs or changes that you think should be made with this mod, please let me know. This mod is definitely not in the final version and I'm open to new ideas to make it better.

This mod is definitely not compatible with other Smithing Revitalization Tree mods. It is currently in an untested state, so it may not even be compatible with mods such as CACO or other handcrafted mods. Again, if you see any issues, please let me know and we'll work to resolve them.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
