About this mod Machine translation

Added spells, scrolls and scrolls for a new charm that affects NPC configuration.

Added Spell Outlines and Scrolls for new Charm spells that affect NPC dispositions. A variant of the spell from Oblivion/Morrowind makes its return in Skyrim.

Overview

The new Charm spell temporarily increases NPC disposal against players - it becomes more powerful as the Illusion skill improves, and can eventually permanently increase NPC disposal at lower numbers.

Available Charisma rolls, by default are set to be as powerful as the expert caster of the spell.

Tomes and scrolls are cleanly added to the appropriate level lists via a little script that is run once after installing the mod.

A lightweight script that only runs on events - not RegisterForUpdate alone (or even RegisterForSingleUpdate).

Published as a Light Master (ESL) file - does not affect your 255 plugin limit. No records overwritten, only 24 new records.

No compatibility patch is required for other perk/magic modes - spells scale with duration and receive any bonuses from dual casting/perks.

There is no MCM, but minor customization options are available via console commands.

Spelling details

Charm can be used as an apprentice-level spell, but has the magic cost of an expert-level spell. It was intentionally designed as a "non-combat" spell to avoid making spells like "Calm" redundant. It does not apply to NPCs with a disposition of -3 (Enemy) or -4 (Archnemesis), and it does not apply to characters who are hostile to you or currently engaged in combat.

The spell expands by default as follows:

At <50 hallucinations, it temporarily raises the disposition to 0 (acquaintance). This is level 1.

At 50-74 Illusion, it temporarily increases the disposition to 1 (Friends). This is layer 2.

At 75-99 hallucination, it temporarily increases the disposition to 2 (confidant) and can permanently increase the disposition to 0 (acquaintance) if their initial disposition is low. This is layer 3 - scrolling is equivalent to this by default.

At 100 Illusion, it temporarily increases the disposition to 3 (ally), and can permanently increase the disposition to 1 (friend) if their initial tendencies are low. This is level 4.

I intentionally left out character 4 (the lover) because I thought it was weird and not what I would use the mod for in my own game. That said, this is configurable.

Global variables can be configured using the console command "set to". The layers above are represented by their names as T<#> - hopefully these names are self-explanatory enough. The available global variables are:

SkillReq - This determines the illusion skill required to cast at each level.

Disposition - This determines the temporary disposition set for each tier of the spell.

PermanentDisposition - This determines the permanent disposition set by the spell's upper 2 tiers.

DispositionScroll - This determines the temporary disposition of the scroll settings.

PermanentDispositionScroll - This determines the permanent disposition of the scroll setting.

EnableCharmNotifications - You can set this to 0 if you don't want notifications to appear in the top left corner.

Please note that if you set these values to values that don't make sense (e.g. higher tiers with lower specs, or higher skill requirements for lower tiers, or entering disposition values beyond what exists), I cannot be responsible for what happens in the game. in the game, or any other such stupidity).

Finally, if for whatever reason your list gets rejoined and the spellbook needs to be re-added (I believe Apocalypse's MCM options may cause this if you use it), I've also included an additional task you can run by typing: startquest chQuestLeveledListsReset

use

Although disposal in Skyrim is nowhere near as useful as Oblivion/Morrowind, it still has some niche uses.

Get high-level items for free. The value of items you can freely take (not counting as stolen) increases with the disposal level.

Restore disposals lost due to aggression, theft, o …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
