About this mod Machine translation

A fork of the Cathedral Weather and Seasons.esp files in version 1.75 with particle geometry values returned to earlier values for better performance in rain.

OK I'm a big fan of the cathedral weather model, but with the latest update, my computer is not. At 1.39, my non-GPU boosted framerate was hit hard into the teens during the now pretty impressive Storm, which I felt was unacceptable. Trying to experiment with the new image space, I opened TES editing and returned the values of the shader particle geometry to those of an earlier version of the mod (the one with very good performance and sparse rain). [EDIT: This is 1.25] Seeing as how johnnywang retains open access to his assets as long as derivative works also remain open allowed, I present to you the modified .esp file for version 1.39 of CWaS. So you and your CPU can breathe a sigh of relief.

Also included is the old rain texture for the cathedral weather model. It's a matter of perspective, but I feel like the new texture may have been "designed" for dense rain, since it looks stunning there, but less so in sparser conditions. This ancient texture is built around minimal rain, so it fits a less rainy aesthetic. But I'll leave it to you.

Installation: As long as you install these files after the main mod, it should be as easy as plug and play. Of course, changing .esp mid game may not be everyone's cup of tea, so I'd probably recommend starting a new game or following the standard procedure for doing so (I tend to start a new game, so not sure about said procedure [google it!]). Or you can plug it in and wait 24 hours during game time to start. You have a choice. *Note: This assumes MO installation. If the file doesn't automatically install NMM or something, please let me know and I'll change the file structure, assuming I can. Or you can take this opportunity to see for yourself the magic of file structure!

Compatibility: Should be compatible with everything from regular CWaS. I didn't change, add or delete any records, only edited the values of a few of them.

Alright. I'm a big fan of the Cathedral weather mods, however with the latest update, my PC is not. With 1.39, there was a significant hit to my not-GPU-boosted frame rate during the now rather visually impressive rainstorms., down into the upper teens, which I did not find acceptable. Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
