First of all, special thanks to the SKY-UI team and Bethesda Studio. I love you all and the entire modding community forever. A policy I completely agree with and will not publish mods anywhere else but here.
In this video I'm testing the first finished version in Broken Russian and it's a stream.
A few words about editing helped me a lot in creating Cardmania; the Adobe Illustrator and JPEXS Free FLash Decompiller.
Now onto the structure of the mod itself. Unlike unique tooltips - SkyUI's colorful tooltips with quality levels and clear project descriptions of my modules have no broken code structural integrity. The whole problem with SWF files is that their integrity is easily compromised beyond recovery. Another problem with SWF files is that the average person won't be able to grasp all the intricacies of working with them in two days. This is the media container of the Internet, and people can only handle it by doing actual work in the appropriate environment. The SWF file itself is useless. This is not a video. This is not a song. You can't do that, just turn it on and have fun. SWF files aren't even pictures. It is a dependency from a large project such as a game or website. That's it, SWF doesn't work anywhere else.
But what's inside? We're only interested in what Bethesda has hidden inside the SWF container, which is also wrapped in the BSA. Ordinary mortals have no idea how this is possible. Trust me, it could be worse by at least looking at the TES-ONLINE files.
Back in our Skyrim, the entire interface of the game is available on a SWF file, and inside the SWF, some kind of 1280 x 720 video format is available, with a duration of about 1-5 seconds. However, the video cannot be played normally and can only be formed with the help of scripts to form an independent micro video player in the SWF container, which only plays one frame. The micro video player even displays pictures from adjacent files on the screen. The player always displays one frame and switches to any frame in the file depending on the player.
The mod you download (hopefully) only changes the part of the interface that is responsible for displaying the title, the parameters and descriptions of the items in the inventory, the descriptions of the magic spells, and the descriptions of the shouts. Using console commands, I rechecked all descriptions of standard things, spells, and screams 100 times. I also checked out complex mods that have longer descriptions than those in Skyrim, checked out Sons of Thunder - Epic Screams and Immersion, and 184Gesu's own Chromatic Magic. And the official mod of Creative Club. All of these mods have multiple words in their object descriptions, that's the nature of creating mods. My patience faltered when Bethesda introduced the mod to the public with the Dwemer Horse, the description there was so long that even with the addition of regular lenses, it gained smear. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to use any of the existing mods to extend the description field for very long - unfortunately, while they solve many problems and even create more, their disadvantages outweigh the advantages.
A year ago I set myself the task of learning how to use SWF files simply to enjoy Skyrim and not accept outdated standards. Electric shock! The Skyrim interface was developed to support 4:3 screens, which is why the usual descriptions look so vertical, but I don't agree with reading a 100 word description where each word's line break is a new word below! rebel! We've endured this for too long! Today, everyone will breathe a sigh of relief as they enjoy handcrafted items, re-read every descrip …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
