About this mod Machine translation

Added strength indicators to weapons and armor. Equipment heavier than its current strength cannot be equipped. Use weapons and armor to increase your strength.

IMPORTANT: A new save is highly recommended. While Road to Skyrim will work with existing games, there's a good chance your favorite piece of equipment won't be equipped and unusable until you build up enough power to use it again.

Overview

Isn't it weird how Dragonborn can use any device in the game on the prisoner van? This mod adds another level of progression in the form of a strength meter. The initial strength only allows for the lightest weapons and armor, but you can increase your strength by using your equipment; this will unlock heavier equipment. The default growth rate is very slow, so gaming through an overused device doesn't get too easy too quickly.

detail

When starting the mod, Dragonborn will get the following initial strength values, which correspond to the corresponding equipment weights:

Melee weapons and bows: 9.1 weight

Helmet: 2.1 weight

Cuirasses: 6.1 weight

Handguard: 2.1 weight

Boots: 2.1 weight

Shield: 4.1 weight

Weapons and armor have separate power growth rates. This growth rate can be configured in the MCM and represents a fraction of a unit of weight added to the appropriate strength metric when the device is used. Additionally, usage thresholds can be configured so that players can equip multiple weight units above the current strength limit, but the speed and damage penalties for each device will be higher than the maximum weight for its slot.

If the device is not in use, the strength downgrade rules will apply to the device slot if the "Toggle Strength Downgrade" option is enabled. Strength per game day shrinks at a rate of approximately 1 weight unit every 30 days.

The Toggle Body Weight MCM option can be used to automatically calculate the growth rate based on the character's body weight. These automatic rates decrease with higher and higher weights, as weaker characters gain power more quickly and stronger characters receive reduced rewards.

The "usage" of the device is as follows:

Melee weapons gain increased power as the weapon swings, both in and out of combat.

The power of the bow increases when shooting arrows in a complete draw, both in and out of combat.

Armor strength increases when sustaining unblocked hits or traveling to different locations.

The shield strength increases when hit by impact or traveling to different locations.

Recommended Mods

Recommended mods are not required but will extend the experience.

Gopher Pumping Iron: Dynamically gain weight over time through training skills. Best suited to use the Toggle Body Weight option.

Important Note: A new save is strongly recommended. While Burdens Of Skyrim will work with existing games, there's a strong chance your favorite equipment will be unequipped and unusable until you build up enough strength to use it again.

Overview

Isn't it strange how the Dragonborn can use any equipment in the game right off of the prisoner cart? This mod adds another level of progression in the form of a strength metric. Initial strength only allows for the lightest of weapons and armor, but strength can be increased by using your equipment; this will unlock heavier equipment. Default growth rates are intended to be quite slow, so the game does not become too easy too quickly through overpowered equipment.

When starting the mod, the Dragonborn will be given the following initial strength values, which correspond to the respective equipment weight:

Melee weapons and bows: 9.1 weight

Helmets: 2.1 weight

Cuirasses: 6.1 weight

Gauntlets: 2.1 weight

Boots: 2.1 weight

Shields: 4.1 weight

Weapons and armor both have a separate growth rate for strength. This growth rate can be configured in the MCM, and it represents a fraction of a weight unit that is added to the appropriate strength metric when equipment is used. …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
