Allows you to brawl any human NPC using the vanilla brawl system without adding any dialogue options or changing any vanilla records. Adds a fun little visual effect.

blind rage

Tired of NPC chatter? Calling your dog stupid? The guards are talking trash about you about sweet bread? Nazeem trying to shame you for owning a stupid farm? You don't have to accept this, fly into a blind rage, beat them unceremoniously, teach them a lesson, and then steal their gold :)

Maybe you just want to build your own Skyrim Fight Club (first rule of Skyrim Fight Club, don’t talk about Skyrim Fight Club)

Of course, you can't win them all, and if some orc tough guy (or gal) has the skills to back up their trash talk, they'll steal your gold. But don't worry, you can steal it back from them when they're gone, or challenge them again to win some back.

What does it actually do?

Adds a blinding rage spell to the player. When the spell is activated, you will briefly glow red and the player's face will reflect your anger. You can then choose to have a brawl within 30 seconds with any human NPC you're not currently fighting (and that's not a child... sorry, if you fantasize about beating up a child, this isn't the mod for you)

Important please read first

This mod uses the vanilla brawl system, the benefit is that it will not edit or conflict with any vanilla brawl missions or dialogue. No new dialogue options have been added. Start an argument using a privileged entry point. The script only runs after the argument starts, so it doesn't impact performance.

The downside is that the mod has most of the same quirks and bugs as the vanilla brawl system (although I've fixed the player and NPCs being permanently stuck in bleed when activating brawl via spells), and I had to work around the vanilla brawl system bugs.

For example, this mod will not cause a brawl bug to occur, but if you encounter a brawl bug, random brawls will occur. NPCs occasionally become hostile during quarrels, etc.

The vanilla brawl system was finicky and I had to deploy many fixes to resolve it. Maybe someday I'll consider redesigning the brawling system from scratch... maybe, but for now it seems to be just as stable as vanilla, so I'm happy with it.

If you can handle the vanilla brawling system, this mod should be fine for you. Please read the Known Issues section to fix any minor issues that may arise, especially before reporting any bugs.

Some quick notes about brawling

Losing a brawl will cause the NPC to rob you and steal 10% of your gold. Gold is added to the NPC's inventory so you can steal it back. Winning the brawl will take away 10% of the NPC's gold. If the player or NPC's total gold count is less than 10, no gold will be stolen (10% of 9 is less than 1). Afterwards, the NPCs won't remain hostile to you, as this temporarily turns on the vanilla brawling system for NPCs, again using the same method as Bethesda (just taking out the dialogue options). The percentage of stolen gold can be adjusted in CK, find the "iPercentage" property value and change it to whatever number you want to reflect as the percentage of gold to be removed. 10 = 10%, all the math is done behind the scenes. The ability to steal gold for Players and NPCs can be turned on and off. I'm too lazy to make an MCM for a small mod like this, so open the console and enter the following for the Player or NPC respectively.

"Set BR_PlayerGold to 0" - Turn off player gold stealing

"Set BR_NPCGold to 0" will turn off NPC gold stealing

Some of you know that I am semi-retired. I made the mod for myself when something bothered me (some NPCs called my dog stupid, so I decided to make a mod that would let me moderate him without moderation) and keep it with me when friends ask. If you find a bug, I'll try to fix it.

How to report a bug

Remove ALLLLLLL other mods. I'm serious, everyone. Unless you report a conflict, you're wasting time and effort.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
