About this mod Machine translation

A useful book for storing your forges and more.

The Blacksmith's Friend is a book that lists many item codes that are essential for crafting forges and other items. It provides an example of how to enter code via the console. It includes two useful potion recipes (along with item codes for the ingredients). It shows you how to add dragon souls, and how to enchant via the console. This book covers the code I type into most frequently for console projects and provides a lot of useful information for starting your Skyrim life. If you don't want to carry it, you can keep it in your inventory or store it in your forge chest. With this book, you can say goodbye to quitting the game to look up code on the internet. Instead, just look at your book.

The book should be available for purchase from the vendor and should appear anywhere the book appears. If you just want to get up to speed quickly, you can pick up a copy from The Sleeping Giant Inn in Riverwood. The book is on the floor just inside the door. But use your secret skills or you will get robbed.

If the community finds this useful, I can update it into a future extended version, provided people get in touch and suggest project code for things they feel are essential.

Item codes are listed in code order, not alphabetical order, so you have to look for the item you want. This may seem like a bad way to do it until you store the new forge and enter the entire list of codes. Then you'll be glad it's in code order, because things get faster than in alphabetical order.

To install, I recommend using Vortex, but if you are the manual installation type, just put the file into the data folder and add it to plugins.ini. The mod shouldn't conflict with anything. This is just a simple basic book.

This would work just fine for Skyrim VR.

Let me know how you like it and if you find it useful, suggest indispensable items to add to future, extended versions, if any.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
