The Blacksmith's Friend is a book that lists many item codes for things that are essential for stocking your forge, and beyond. It gives examples of how to enter the codes via the console. It includes two useful potion recipes (and the item codes for the ingredients). It shows you how to add dragon souls, and how to enchant things via the console. The book covers my most frequently entered console item codes and provides a lot of useful information for getting underway in your Skyrim life. You can keep it in your inventory or store it in the chest at your forge if you don't want to carry it. With this book, you can say goodbye to exiting the game to look up codes on the Internet. Instead, just look in your book.

The book should be available for purchase from vendors, and may show up anyplace that books are found. If you just want to get hold of it quick, you can obtain a copy from The Sleeping Giant Inn in Riverwood. The book is on the floor just inside the door. But use your stealth skills or you'll get busted for stealing.

If the community finds this useful, I may update it to future expanded editions, provided that people get in touch and suggest item codes for the things that they find essential.

Item codes are listed in code order, not alphabetically, so you'll have to look for the item that you want. This may seem like a bad way to do it, until you're stocking a new forge and typing in the whole list of codes. Then you'll be glad that it's in code order as things go faster than they would if it was alphabetized.

To install, I recommend using Vortex, but if you're a manual install type, just drop the file in your data folder and add it to your plugins.ini. The mod shouldn't conflict with anything. It's just a simple, basic book.

This works in Skyrim VR just fine.
