Requirements-Alternative Description

describe

Normally, when dealing with enchanted items, Skyrim takes the magic effects contained in the item's object effects and adds the descriptions together. This way you can easily add multiple effects, but the more effects you add, the worse the instructions get (the mage's robes here being the perfect example). So with this mod I tried to change it to be more readable (and therefore more immersive ;)). Some inconsistencies found in the Skyrim/Requiem files were such that basic stats were sometimes capitalized and sometimes not. You'll find "damage points" and sometimes even "damage", and some weird word order (but I'm not a native speaker, so I'm not sure.) When listing buffs and combining them where possible, I try to describe them in some order (if something increases the same value by more than 1, I list them together). Also, I got rid of the damage, capitalized "Points" because I felt there were too many buffs, and I merged them into the left pane of active effects (e.g. when wearing Arch, you won't see the "Fortify <Each School of Magic" mage robes, I just replaced it with "Reduce Spell Cost". So far I think I've covered everything for Basic Requiem, Most of these include effects on armor and spells. Oh, I would recommend using the stock version with more HUD as the description window is larger.

compatibility

For AZ Tweaks, if you do the same for any other mod before loading my mod, you should be good. If your mod is changing a unique armor effect, you won't get the full benefit, but the instructions will still be improved (unless the mod also changes it).

Dragonborn patch notes

I'm assuming you're using lilmoefow's SE conversion, which you can find in his dropbox under the Requiem 3.4 patch. It was a lot of work as the project was set up to sometimes create confusing effects, or in a way that prevented a concise description, so I had to change how the effects were applied. However, the effect should be good. I don't know why the description of Miraak's gloves and boots is arbitrary, so I didn't mess with it. Magic effects are a "scripted" type here and therefore will not be dealt with for now. I also fixed some typos from the original mod so the instructions should be consistent with the actual size of some enchantments.

3tweaks patch notes

For this, Fozar's Dragonborn is required. A lot of magic effects were added, so not everything is complete. I mainly focus on armor, potion instructions and similar stuff. Firesparks' spell is now very special and will remain that way until the next version (if you don't like it you can change it yourself in xedit). I also fixed some incorrect spell descriptions and some enchantments (spells that deal elemental stamina and half stamina damage, empowered illusions, enhanced recovery). Overall, I think I'll get away from descriptions written in the second person, but there's a lot to cover. Regardless, when you're looking at magic effects, the key is to have a good description, so minor stuff you only see in a checklist isn't really a priority right now.

Thanks

Special thanks to Fornication from the Requiem discord server for providing suggestions, feedback, finding bugs and making things easier. Also, if you have suggestions or spot typos, please let me know and I'll take a look.

do it

  • Legacy+balance tweaks for Dragonborn patch (probably 3 tweaks considered),

*If necessary, change the item description in inventory,

*Weapon enchantment? That's counterproductive, except maybe for unique items, since there are a lot of them, and player-made double enchantments may not be repairable,

*Change everything to 2nd person (maybe one day).

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
