About this mod Machine translation
Make Helgen's vanilla tutorial happen at night.
I always feel like the vanilla introduction was wrong during the day. Between Helgen's burning and Ulfric's improvisational execution, Daylight does little to help the mood feel right.
content:
This mod only edits two things. The global value of the game time is set to 22:00, and the "unbound" MQ101 script also sets the game time. This is necessary to prevent the vanilla script from reverting the time to 7:00, which is one hour before the default game time of 8:00.
Loading order:
I recommend loading it after any mod that includes an alternate startup type with the Helgen option. Not sure if it would load before as I don't have a way to test this mod on PC. If it's important, please tell me.
notes:
Not an .esl file. I've never done it before, but I've been told that it can't make changes to global values, although it can be used with scripts. Not sure if the loading order mechanism of .esl files is also an issue with Alt Start mods. I'll upload/link anyone's test credits list if it functions as an .esl.
Before Undriel spoke to me, I wasn't sure if I should release this mod on . I don't actually want to get an endorsement for this mod, I'd rather see it become very popular as it is added as an option for Alt Start mods. I'd also very gratefully accept any nice screenshots from this mod's community so I can see all the nice pc mods that make the night look awesome. Any Alduin replacement (ANY) would also be very welcome.
If you want to test it out you want to save the modslot then I've included a transcript of the mod in the screenshot for easy editing in CK or Xedit. You can use it with Skyrim LE as well I don't have LE CK installed to place the mod.

This mod only edits two things. The Global value for the Game Hour is set to 22:00 and the MQ101 script for "Unbound" has the Game Hour set likewise. This had to be done to prevent the vanilla script from reverting the time to 7:00, one hour before the default Game Hour of 8:00.
Load Order:
I'd suggest loading this after any mods of the alternate start genre that includes a Helgen choice. Not sure if it would work if loaded before as I don't have a means to test this mod on pc myself. Let me know if it matters.
Notes:
Not an.esl file. I've never made on before but I've been told it can't make changes to Global Values, though it can to scripts. Unsure if the load order mechanics of.esl files would be a problem for Alt Start mods either. If it's functional as an.esl, I'll upload/link anyone's test of it with credit listed.
Wasn't sure if I should bother posting this mod until Undriel talked me into it. I'm not actually looking to get endorsements for this mod, I'd rather see it become well liked anough that it gets added as an option to Alt Start mods out there. I'll also gratefully accept any pretty screenshots from the community of this mod in action so I can see all the nice pc mods out there that make nights look amazing. Any Alduin replacers (ANY) would be very welcome as well.
If you like this enough after testing it out but want to save the modslot, I've included the records of the mod in the screenshots for a simple edit in the CK or Xedit. You could use that for Skyrim LE as well as I don't have the LE CK installed to put the mod up.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
