Fine-tuned effects for various unique items in Requiem: Role Playing Overhaul
I'm really unhappy with some of the unique items in Requiem, I feel like some of them are just too weak, some of them don't have enough alternatives, some of them are inconsistent, and some of them are just too good. So I decided to change it up a bit, at first I used it personally, but then I thought why not share it with those who have similar views on these projects, so here it is:
Scholar's Crown: Scholar's Crown doesn't have much use for me at all, even for my pure mage character, simply because the 5% cost reduction for all magic schools always seemed weak to me for a unique item that's still hard to get. Instead I always prefer to wear mage hoods for extra magicka, these are so common it just didn't feel right, so I decided to weight the crown:
- Reduced the cost of all magic schools from 5% in the default Requiem to 10%.
-Buffed armor level increased from 35 to 75. Will not break mage armor as it is still considered a piece of cloth.
-Base value (no additional value increase) increased from 505 to 3000.
- Unchanged weight: 1.
Amulet of Savos Arlen: For an amulet that is as unique as Friedhold's own Archmage, Requiem leaves its default 50 magic enchantment unaffected and not even a minor beneficial effect, which to me is really disappointing. I really wanted to make something worthy of being worn by an Archmage himself, but also a worthy alternative to a regular Necro amulet for a pure mage. So I decided to buffer it:
-Buffed magicka increased from 50 to 150 and prevents magicka from being lost while running or even when being hit.
- Base value (no additional value increases) increased from 300 to 3000.
- Unchanged weight: 1.
Arch-mage's Robes: I know you only get them after completing Labyrinthian, and by that time, any playthrough of any game is completely over anyway, but at the same time I feel like Arch-mage's Robes have way too many enchantments, some of which are not directly related to magical abilities like health and carrying weight, and all of them are pretty overwhelming and tend to make more content insignificant, so I decided to reduce or remove some of them:
- Resistance: changed from 100% to 50%
-Fortify Carryweight 35: Removed
-Fortify Health 25: Removed
-Fortify Stamina 25: Removed
- Base value (no additional value increases) increased from 100 to 7500.
- Unchanged weight: 1.
For reference, unaffected are: 15% reduced cost of all magic schools, 100% disease resistance, 15% magic resistance, 200% magic resistance, 250% magic regeneration. So we can see that even with those nerfs, Arch-mage's robes are still BY FAR the best chest you can have for a pure mage figure.
Arch-mage's Boots: I felt like they were in a good spot with 25% elemental resistance, so I just increased their value to reflect their potency:
- Base value (no additional value increases) increased from 100 to 3000.
Necromancer's Amulet: It was almost always a pure mage-built amulet with some hybrid version of Requiem, whether or not those versions actually relied on necromancy/spells, which always felt wrong to me. Combined with the changes to the Amulet of Savos Aren, the Amulet of the Necromancer will now be an amulet that reuses Conjuration/Necromancy's build, which I feel is more in keeping with its name/theme/lore. I also feel like it's too accessible and used at a low level. So I did the following:
- Removed 200 magicka buff.
-Nerfed magic cost reduced from 30% to 20%.
- Having it wear the amulet will cause the character to have one more raised corpse or summoned minion active at any given time (effectively increasing the active summons or corpse limit by 1, cumulatively in the spell).
- Increased the base magic required to use the amulet without curse (health drain) effect from 150 to 225.
- Increased health regeneration debuff from 75% to 90%.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
