About this mod Machine translation

Modified the XP32 Max Skeleton Extended Skeletal Mesh to better place the "sheathed" two-handed axe and hammer.

This module requires the XP32 Max Skeleton extension, along with all associated requirements for this module.

I messed around with the XPMS Maximum 32 expansion skeleton and noticed that two swords and two axes/hammers have

Separate node for "sheath". I modified the two hand axis/hammer nodes to change the position so that the head of the weapon is near the shoulder, and

The handle hangs down instead of staying 3 feet above the character's head.

I think something similar could be achieved via the character's racemenu, but this mod will also affect the NPC if you set it via the XPMS style menu to use modified nodes for both hand axes/hammers.

Also, since they are separate nodes, they do not affect the position of the greatsword's sheath.

Of course, the drawing animations don't change, but for me, the immersion doesn't change that much. I kind of picture the character grabbing the handle underneath the head and flipping it over quickly.

The sheath placement on these weapons has been bugging me since 2011. I’ve always found that I’d rather be there.

Install:

I recommend using the Mod Manager app. I use Mod Organizer

Select the "Default" node mod file or the "SWP" node mod file.

Install the mod from the archive and position it to cover XP32 Maximum Skeleton Extended. The only file overwritten is the Skeleton nif of the character asset. These nifs are exact copies of the current XP32 extension nifs, the only change is the relocation of the Default or SWP two-handed ax/hammer nodes, depending on which file you choose.

default value:

After installation, launch the game and if both the Waraxe/Warhammer nodes are set to default in the XPMS style MCM menu, the positions of the characters and NPCs will automatically change.

If the mod weapon you are using is a great sword animated with a battle axe, it will be turned upside down, so when using such a weapon you will need to change the character to a SWP node in the XPMS style menu for both the battle ax and the war hammer.

SWP:

Once installed, launch the game, load your character, and go to the Styles section of the XMPS MCM menu.

Change the character's battle ax/hammer position to SWP and do the same with NPCs as needed.

If the mod weapon you are using is a greatsword that uses a battle ax animation, it will be upside down, so when using such a weapon you will need to change the roles of the battle ax and war hammer to the Default node in the XPMS style menu.

compatibility:

The only incompatible modules are other modules that modify the XP32 extension skeleton.

question:

The transition may take some time. Normally when switching the position of any weapon using the XPMS style menu I usually have to

Equip the weapon, open the menu, and exit it a few times to complete the transition.

I calibrated the position to the Iron Tomahawk, and in playing I've seen most other tomahawks and warhammers look good in this position.

However, some of these weapons are held in a different position than the standard grip, so the rear sheath is positioned a little off, often too low. The Dawnguard Warhammer is a good example of this, although they can easily be fixed in NifScope by loading the weapon mesh and transitioning it to the desired position.

If you have a mod that changes the wood cutting axe and pickaxe to two-handed, they will be in the middle of the back when sheathed since the sheaths are much shorter. These won't help, as converting the mesh will make the weapon look weird when held.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
