About this mod Machine translation

The only enemy level scaling system that makes sense to me. Compatible, customizable, automatic, life changing :)

What started as a guide is now a standalone, out-of-the-box mod! enjoy your meal!

this concept

The usual enemy expansion is the most annoying feature of my offline single player games. I hate it when my enemies get stronger after leveling up. If making your enemies stronger, what's the point of gaining experience? Unlocking the game can actually make things worse. Yes, you stop "sharing" your progress with your enemies, but is it really a good idea to play a game where you have the most OP advantage: you can get stronger, but your enemies can't? It's like playing a strategy game, you can develop new technologies, you can improve your cities and armies, you can conquer new territories, but your enemies cannot. Doesn't sound like a good idea to me. Your enemies are challenging even at the beginning of the game, all you need to do is spend time in the game and eventually you will "outshine" your opponents. boring.

Vanilla scaling system

Pros: Hard to find anything.

Disadvantages: "Self-improvement" becomes meaningless and even harmful in some ways. You share your progress with your enemies.

Unequal game

Strengths: Lacks the weaknesses of previous systems, challenging early game play.

Cons: Boring match. Mechanical tricks that take time. Hard-to-make, often incompatible mods that can revolutionize just about anything and make a game unbeatable.

Location based enemy expansion

Advantages: Can be used successfully with other leveling systems if it is not too extreme.

Cons: If it's taken to the extreme, turning an open-world game into... well, not so open. "You can go there, but not there"

Time-based enemy scaling system

Advantages:

  • Both early and late game are fun and challenging.
  • Just like in PVP games, you and your enemies will become stronger independently of each other, but you have the same amount of time, and only your excellent gaming skills and strategy will allow you to overtake, "over", outrun and win the game.
  • Time becomes an important resource, which itself introduces an interesting new gameplay mechanic to the game.
  • It makes the game endlessly replayable (if you consider this an advantage)
  • Uses existing game mechanics, doesn't require much "overhaul". Super compatible (at least, my implementation of the idea)
  • etc...

Cons: This is not for people who just want to spend time in the game and do nothing else. (Not judging anyone. If this is the game you want, good for you! There's nothing wrong with it :)

How it works + how to use

Most mods, such as Experience, treat the vanilla experience system as part of player progression, and XP gain as a good, beneficial thing for the player. I decided to take an unconventional approach and completely unlock the player XP mechanic (and tie it to time). With my system, leveling up is actually bad for you and good for your enemies. The vanilla player leveling system became an enemy scaling mechanic. For example, level 15 can tell you anything about a player's abilities, skills, or statistics. It only tells you things about enemies and the rest of the world, not the player. You don't get upgraded stats. All you get is stronger enemies.

This allows us to use vanilla mechanics to make enemies stronger at higher levels, which works to our advantage. And we don’t need to overhaul anything. We don't need to get rid of horizontal lists or anything like that. We're probably just sorting out the loot a little bit and not having any more serious issues.

Step 1: Install the mod

It requires ConsoleUtil (LE, SE) and SkyUI (LE, SE)

Your overall level in Skyrim is determined by the level of all your skills. My mod unlocks these things from each other. It also keeps the world up to date. In the MCM menu you can select the time interval (in days) between upgrades.

Additionally, it gives you spells that can trigger upgrades at any time. (If you want to make your own alter …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
