My second point was to make Dragon Soul useful, it was reorganized from the ground up via the MCM menu. Reserved souls affect the amplitude and/or duration of the shout. Dragon Soul can be used for revival. Accept suggestions for additional features.

In mid-2019 I released a mod called Souls Do Things. It was designed as a lightweight means of making dragon souls useful. While the mod plays perfectly in my own game, a common request I received after uploading it was that the MCM menu be required for ease of use. This is a valid suggestion since the original mod handles settings via global settings via console commands. However, I was relatively new to coding (I guess I still am), and I found it tedious that to make the MCM menu I pretty much had to change the way the various perks, spells, and magic effects interacted with it. each other to some extent.

It's been over 6 months since I released that mod and I finally found the time and motivation to unencrypt it. So here we are.

Souls Do Things 2 is my second attempt at making Dragon Souls useful, reorganized from the ground up via the MCM menu. Reserved souls affect the amplitude and/or duration of the shout. Dragon Soul can be used for revival. Accept suggestions for additional features.

So what does this mod do?

Let’s talk about Dragon Soul Abandonment.

I've long been a believer in Dragon Soul Abandonment, and it's an amazing mod that creates a problem when it comes to solving problems. See, the problem DSR is trying to solve is an infinite source of dragon souls, which means players sit there doing nothing for long periods of time and accumulate an infinitely growing inventory. DSR solves this problem by turning souls into currency that can be used to obtain other things. But that doesn't solve the root of the problem: the source of dragon souls... aka dragon spawns... is still potentially infinite. There is still a limit to the number of Exclusives you can spend on Exclusive Points, and eventually Soul Exclusive Points conversion becomes useless. At the same time, constantly spending points elsewhere, such as spending on health, magic, stamina, weight bearing, damage, strength... etc. will make you stronger,

There are two other things about DSR that concern me:

1.It depends on the script being run. This is a lightweight, slow script, but it still works. This is a bad thing because ideally you don't want to run a script in the background if the benefit you want is permanent or non-dynamic.

  • It runs using Actor values Variable01 to Variable10. The fact that it dynamically changes the variables it depends on to avoid conflicts is the exact reason it needs to run the script.

How can I solve the same problem

My solution to the infinite dragon soul problem is to turn your savings into a blessing rather than a burden. You kill dragons, you take their souls, and the souls give you special effects. Just like in DSR, you can scale infinitely (if you set the cap to off via MCM). However, you can also lose your dragon soul after death in order to resurrect yourself. This means that not only are you encouraged to store countless souls, but if you accidentally die, you'll be penalized for disposing of the soul, reducing overall power.

A size slider to adjust the shout bonus for each soul. By default, this value is set to 2% and can be increased to 100% per soul. The Duration slider is disabled by default (my personal preference. Feel free to turn it on).

Note: "Slow time" is temporarily unaffected. It requires a completely different setup than the scaling perk already present in the mod, as increasing the magnitude only weakens the slowdown time.

Note 2: Currently, there is no setting to lower the cooldown, as having the cool …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
