About this mod Machine translation

This adds some behind-the-scenes functionality so that people can experience the inevitable Dragon Souls in the long game. The roaring scales are stored with the dragon's soul, which you resurrect at the expense of the dragon's soul. This is intended to accommodate hardcore and/or vanilla+mod settings, but will work with most other games as well.

This adds some behind-the-scenes functionality that will allow people to experience the inevitable Dragon Soul in the long game. The roaring scales are stored with the dragon's soul, which you resurrect at the expense of the dragon's soul. This is intended to accommodate hardcore and/or vanilla+mod setups, but should be fine for most other games as well.

I know I know. There are mods that solve the problem of infinite dragon souls without using them. Dragon Soul Abandonment comes to mind. I said, yes, that's a good way to deal with dragon souls. But it does come with a caveat, which I'll explain below. Now, the important thing is that this is a mod that provides functionality to Dragon Souls, rather than costing Dragon Souls.

Shoutout: Narue's Dragon Soul Utils has the potential to achieve this goal, although she has other bigger projects to continue working on, so it will eventually die. But she did make her work available to the public, so I decided...hey, why not?

So, like my first mod Weather Do Things, I focused on being as direct and simple as possible.

More soul = more power

Death = less power

This is the result.

Dragon Soul Scaling //

================

Let's talk about Dragon Soul abandonment.

DSR (and similar mods) create problems when solving problems. See, these types of mods make too many dragon souls a problem, so they encourage people to find ways to spend them. The insistent soul does nothing. Lost souls gain strength. Because these modes tie power spikes to the number of souls discarded, no matter how configurable they are, unlimited dragon spawns guarantee that you'll eventually outrun everything in the game. This is not fun for me.

The way I handle this situation is to view the lack of soul as the issue rather than the actual dollar amount. With this mod, each soul you collect increases Shout by 2%. This is a substantial amount, but in the late game, collecting 10 souls gives you a 20% boost, which is easy to obtain. This means that if the means to lose souls were to be added, it would greatly impact players and encourage them to gain more souls.

Dragon Soul Resurrection//

================

You may be familiar with Dead Souls, which restore players when entering a bleed. It's a nice little mod that comes with its own MCM menu and, for the most part, does what it's supposed to do. Unfortunately, the mod author hasn't updated it yet, and at this point the potential for more features is gone. Another problem is that Death Souls' script uses the GetPlayer function, which at least as I understand it... is slower than using the PlayerRef property.

So I researched Dead Souls and its revival script and compared it to another work, by author Narue in Dragon Soul Utils. The result is that the Dragon Soul Revival function should be faster than the Dead Soul.

Long story short, you die and you lose the soul that gave you your power. Take care of your life and you will become stronger. In the fall, you come back weaker than before.

This feature comes with some options set via global variables.

  • _SDT_ReviveCost - This determines the number of souls deducted from the player. DEFAULT = 1 (set to 0 for infinite recovery).
  • _SDT_HardcoreEnabled - Set this variable to 0, 1 or 2. 0 = Only the ReviveCost is deducted from the player. 1 = Soul is cut in half and resurrection has a cooldown of 1 day. 2 = All souls are removed on death, but there is no cooldown. DEFAULT = 1
  • _SDT_SuperEnabled - Set this value to 1 to enable Dragon A …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
