About this mod Machine translation
Add two ferry lines south of Solitude to cross the bay without getting wet.
---- New features in version 1.1.00 ----
New raft net, hopefully without rare but annoying visual glitches.
The raft now includes paid cups and lanterns (with animated flames and lights and all :D)
You can now climb onto rafts and docks directly from the water (just like ice floes). Your followers can do this too, but only if the water is deep enough for them to stand rather than swim – this is the core problem of the game and there's nothing I can do about it.
There is a new variant (unmanned ferry) for those who want to make the game even spookier.
All three variants of the mod have Skyrim-compatible versions.
In the Ferryman Family variation, mother and daughter are businessmen - Beth sells mostly seafood, Flavia sells seafood and a few bugs.
In "Unmanned Ferry", there is an old man wandering in the swamp. If you are lucky enough to see him, you can buy some fish and bugs from him.
New Requirements: All DLC and USLEP

----WWhy do we need to ferry----
If you've ever found yourself driving north from Morthal or Whiterun, hoping to reach solitude, but instead of following the signposts or tracking spells, you followed the tantalizing sight of the city sitting there, you might find yourself with a bit of a solution: the city is indeed there, but between you and your destination lies the icy waters of the bay. If you're running Frostfall and it happens to be late at night, that can cause problems - swimming could cause you to freeze to death before reaching shelter. (Also, even swimming in full armor might give your brain a blue screen of death. I know what I tried ;).
One might wonder why the only way to reach solitude is to cross the Dragon Bridge. Strategically, this is of course ideal for defence.
Plus, there's nothing to the south of the city, just hostile swamps filled with poisonous plants and poisonous spiders. There is no reason for the city to spend significant resources building a bridge:
a) Very few citizens use it,
b) Restricted access to the pier
c) It would be a security risk if any intruders decided to cross the swamp on their way to the battle.
But there are always those few who need to cross the bay on a semi-frequent basis - like hunters, fishermen, alchemists looking for rare ingredients, and the occasional lost traveler or adventurer escaping from a vampire pack; for them there's no point in hiking across the Dragon Bridge. Those with an industrial spirit are prepared to use their own means of transportation - the ferry; it is cheap, meets transportation needs, and is easily jettisoned - in the event of an attack, just cut the rope! ;)
---- tldr; ----
This mod adds ferries that you can use to reach Loneliness from the south, or to travel south from Loneliness. It comes in three variants, described below. What they all have in common is:
There are two lines - one right at Solitude Pier and the other just east of the rocky outcrop where Solitude is located. Each line consisted of two rafts, one on each shore, which they walked along.

Some Techniques With some tricks, you can also make your followers jump on them. Might take some singing and dancing - I've found the best way is to lure them onto the dock first until they're as far away as possible, then run to the corner of the raft farthest from them. What I've noticed during testing is that if it's your first time on any given dock, the followers will usually risk putting their feet on the raft - but if it's your second time or above, then they'll be cool with it. Once the ferry moves, everyone and all belongings standing/lying will be removed. (Please note: sometimes the ride is smooth and sometimes there is some turbulence and you need to take action to avoid being thrown overboard. I'm not sure what causes this; unexpected real-life bonus,
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
