Requiem - Restored Second Person Messages
Screenshots 7 screenshots
About this mod Machine translation
Removed all instances of first person messaging in Requiem and replaced them with second person messaging that was a blend of vanilla, Requiem, and my own personal tweaks.
Detailed explanation, reasons
I made this mod because I never understood that converting messages in an RPG to first person would make them more "immersive" for the player
Or something more appropriate for role-playing. In fact, the prescribed first-person voice seems to go against role-playing or immersion. The game now tells me what I think instead of providing information I can think for myself. Why does this matter to me
Better consider that the dialogue systems of Morrowind and Oblivion are not identical.
But I digress. The point is, I've never created one in Requiem that suited those messages I imagined (they've never developed a fascination with ellipses). So I finally decided to do something about it and made this mod.
I think this mod is a WIP. Currently it loops through all messages and converts them to the second person. In some cases, this simply copies the original message. But more generally, I'm trying to follow Requiem's [good] philosophy of not being a handheld player (we've all played Skyrim before, right?) and keeping this information autonomous; that is, you shouldn't see second-person messages that just report the rules of the game to you. I tried to add some character in there to make the player character look like you were making this decision in the game. Additionally, combat information removed by Requiem (such as enemies resisting your spells) is retained. Broadly speaking, these are the goals of this mod in the message:
·Eliminate the confusing structure and syntax of Requiem (and sometimes Vanilla).
·Removing as much metagame messages as possible (slightly inconsistent at the moment).
·The time period at which all messages end (vanilla Skyrim is inconsistent with this).
·You can now tell what has been added and removed from your inventory rather than just the item name shown
Ellipsis (default Requiem).
·No more ellipses, even with the default Requiem structure, there is no reason to use them (other than the fact that)
I honestly don’t like ovals).
Players are granted autonomy over second-person messaging.
·Strike a balance between being helpful and not being overly obvious. For example, if you try to open an unlocked door it is a
key and you will receive a message that the door is locked. However, sometimes Requiem decides that you don't need to know certain things (like why it's a follower)
Leave you). Such messages have been restored (usually edited).
Please note again that this is a WIP. Mainly because I'm tired of Requiem's message and there may be a certain lack here
Consistency, including some awkward structures, I tried to work on (and
In vain) to combine Requiem and Vanilla information, typos and lack of
The consistency of my own structure.
Disclaimer
I play Requiem 2.x because I have a stable character and LO that I don't have time to update. Therefore, this
version was made on this edition, although this should apply to all versions of the Requiem. Note, however, that all changes are
Made under the assumption that nothing has changed in versions of Requiem older than 2.0.
Other instructions are
Two things:
First off, I'd like to say that I'm mainly making this mod for myself. I uploaded it because I thought others might appreciate the work. But please note that I don't have enough time to do this; updates won't be very frequent, but I'll try to keep it as good as possible. In addition, among the spelling errors
Stay with me on this kind of thing - I'm pretty good at proofreading other people's work, but I'm terrible at proofreading my own stuff. If you are in mod or mine
Found errors in the description (yikes), just point them to me. I apologize for the slightly cluttered setup of this mod page; my focus is on the mod.
Secondly, there's a message or two assuming you use the full Alchemy …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
