About this mod Machine translation
Merchants will now treat you worse based on how much stuff you steal from their city. Accept the consequences of your misconduct.
Introduction
Dear thief-adventurers, the people of Skyrim are wise. They may not have witnessed your crimes, but it's not hard to spot the most suspicious people in Tamriel when it's time to take action. You've shaken off the hired thugs and moved on as if nothing happened. But what do you do when untrustworthy merchants start skimming coins from transactions? Will you continue to play bold roles?
The basic premise of this mod is that the more items you steal, the more Fame you gain, and the less eager merchants will be to give up gold to you. From a gaming perspective, theft is extremely profitable, both in a vanilla-like game and in heavily modded games, and it tends to crash the economy. This mod aims to provide balance in the system so that players can benefit from stealing, but will also be penalized for it.
infamous mechanics
Your total number of thefts will be tracked by criminal faction. All items you steal count towards the total, which in turn affects your barter rate with that faction. They won't notice until you steal at least 500 gold (the amount required to complete the Bedlam job), and then it will gradually increase. A small percentage of your maximum infamy value will be used as your "overall" or minimum infamy value with other factions from which you may not have stolen much.
parameter:
SellMultMin (default: 0.30) - Defines the lower limit for low sell prices.
BuyMultMax (Default: 1.00) - Defines the upper limit of how high the price can be bought.
NonFactionInfamyMult (default: 0.33) - Defines the highest level's notoriety score that is the minimum of the other factions (i.e., how much the word distribution is).
GoldMin (Default: 500) - Defines the minimum amount of notoriety required to start imposing penalties.
GoldDiv (Default: 7200) - Modifies the price movement rate based on your reputation. For the sake of precision, it's the other way around.
GoldCurve (Default: 1.50) - Modifies the price change rate of your reputation using an index. For theft<GoldDiv, higher values of this setting will be less glaring.
Calculation: Barter Adjustment (optional)
x_faction:= gold stolen from faction
x_global:= (most gold stolen from any faction) * NonFactionInfamyMult
x:= max(max(x_faction, x_global) - GoldMin, 0)
Sell price multiplier = SellMultMin + ((1 - SellMultMin) / (1 + (x / GoldDiv)^GoldCurve))
Buy price multiplier = BuyMultMax + ((1 - BuyMultMax) / (1 + (x / GoldDiv)^GoldCurve))
This mod contains some baseline bartering adjustments that reduce selling prices and make voice skills less effective in bartering. If you need more control over your barter settings, install Trade and Barter.

Install
New games are recommended when installing this mod. Pickpocket theft totals are not provided by the game engine, so the mod tracks them separately. This means that installing the mid-play feature will not be traceable to your pickpocket thefts.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
