About this mod Machine translation

Provides the fastest, easiest, and most comprehensive way to merge soundtracks from previous Elder Scrolls games into Skyrim

》, used in Arena and Daggerfall because

Bethesda's games must be made available for free to provide files for Morrowind and Oblivion

This is the fastest, easiest, and most comprehensive way to incorporate soundtracks from previous Elder Scrolls games into Skyrim

Other mods exist that do this, but many replace Skyrim's music rather than add to it, and most even conflict with the official DLC's soundtrack.

Each game's soundtrack is carefully categorized and can be played at the appropriate time and situation.

The files can be high-quality WAV tracks with large file sizes or compressed XWM tracks with small file sizes.

To use with other plugin-based music modules, a patch is required.

Includes music from Arena and Daggerfall; for Morrowind and Oblivion you must provide your own music files

Quick start

  • Download the main WAV or XWM file in the Files section of this page. 2. Download the Arena and Daggerfall audio tracks from the Optional Files section.

Or see the "Convert your own audio tracks" section below to generate them yourself. 3. Install the main file and audio track files via the mod manager of choice

*If you don't want a specific song, delete it - If you don't want the entire game's soundtrack, just delete its folder or don't install it first. 4. Activate this mod’s .esp file in your Mod Manager or Skyrim Launcher.

Add music from MORROWIND and OBLIVION

  • Download Morrowind and Oblivion online services from the following location or install from CD
  • Find the respective audio tracks in "Morrowind\Data\Music" and "Oblivion\Data\Music"
  • For each game, songs exist as MP3 tracks in separate theme sub-folders, such as "Explore", "Combat", etc. - Copy all the MP3 files in these subfolders into a single folder for each game, i.e. one folder with all the songs from Morrowind and one with all the songs from Oblivion

*The songs must be in a single folder for the mod to work - if you just copy a subfolder it won't recognize its file path

*For Morrowind, the 2 identical tracks of 'Title Theme.mp3' exist in separate subfolders; let one overwrite the other when moving them to a folder, and there is no difference between them

FOR WAV version

  • Convert all MP3 files in the Morrowind and Oblivion folders to WAV files using iTunes, VLC, Audacity, or another program of your choice. Save the resulting WAV files in a separate folder for each game - this does not improve the sound quality, but it does make them usable in the Skyrim engine
  • This mod moves each game's converted WAV files into the installed folder in the Skyrim directory - for Morrowind, 'Skyrim\Data\Music\Morrowind' - for Oblivion, 'Skyrim\Data\Music\Oblivion'

*Don't rename the songs - their filenames must match the original audio tracks, and they must be in WAV format for the plugin to recognize them to

Get XWM version

  • Download MultiXWM, a utility that compresses MP3 and other files to XWM:
  • From the new folder, drag the MP3 of each game into the MultiXWM window and click "Start" to convert, saving the generated XWM files in separate folders for each game
  • Move each game's converted WAV files to a folder in the Skyrim directory where this mod is installed - for Morrowind, "Skyrim\Data\Music\Morrowind" - for Oblivion, "Skyrim\Data\Music\Oblivion"

*Don't rename the songs - their filenames must match the original audio tracks, and they must be in XWM format so that the plugin can recognize them

compatibility

Any mod that adds new music tracks via .esp files may require a patch.

Mods that replace existing music tracks (usually mods without .esp) will not.

Require

-Skyrim Legend Edition

  • If you wish to use these soundtracks, please use a copy of Morrowind or Oblivion

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
